About 10 million tires are disposed of each year in the county. Tires dumped or improperly stored can pose a threat to public health and safety and to the environment. Left in the open, they can hold stagnant water, a breeding ground for mosquitoes, which spread disease.

Rubber from the tires collected can be recycled into construction and manufacturing materials.
