USC advanced to the regional final earlier in the day by scoring six in the ninth inning to defeat Texas Tech 13-10.

Trojan Jacque Jones tried to rally USC (44-16-1) in the home half of the fourth with his third home run of the tournament. But OSU starter Ryan Graves (10-2) pitched the Cowboys out of the inning.

OSU scored three in the sixth and tacked on two in seventh to take a 10-1 lead. MacKay, who was named tournament MVP (Multimedia Video Processor) A high-speed DSP chip from Texas Instruments, introduced in 1994. The Cowboys will make their 20th trip to Omaha and their 10th under head coach Gary Ward.

In the first game, Jeff Inglin's three-run homer in the bottom of the 11th inning capped a six-run, two-out rally as the Trojans eliminated the Red Raiders from the tournament.

The rally occurred after confusion between Tech outfielder Marshall Bennett and second baseman Joe Dillon allowed Wes Rachels' two-out pop fly to drop.

Texas Tech (49-14) appeared to be headed for victory when, with the score tied 7-7 in the 11th, the Red Raiders scored three runs.

But after Tech's Jimmy Frush, who had come on in relief in the eighth, issued a leadoff walk to Greg Walbridge, Mark Mirizzi singled. Frush struck out the next two batters and induced Rachels to pop to shallow right. But indecision between Bennett and Dillon allowed the fly to fall, scoring Walbridge.

Paul Cruz then lifted a long fly ball to center that Tech fielder Brad Davis was able to get a glove on but could not hold. The two-run triple tied the game. After an intentional walk to Jacques Jones, Inglin's smash ended Tech's season.
