OKI Provides Samples for 10Gbit/s Optical Receiver Module.

TOKYO -- Oki Electric Industry Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:6703) today announced it has developed two models of ROSA (Receiver Optical Sub Assembly)-type optical receiver modules. These modules are for use in XMD-MSA (10Gbit/s Miniature Device Multi Source Agreement) applications that are compliant with the small transceiver (TRANSmitter reCEIVER) An electronic device or circuit that transmits and receives analog or digital signals. It comes in many forms; for example, a transponder on a satellite, a network adapter in the computer or the circuits in a cellphone.  XFP XFP 10 Gigabit Small Form Factor Pluggable Module

The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  and metropolitan area networks. OKI will offer samples starting today.

Publicly accessible computer network connecting many smaller networks from around the world. It grew out of a U.S. Defense Department program called ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network), established in 1969 with connections between computers at the
, optical 10G ROSA Module receivers and transmitters that are compliant with XFP are being introduced, which is an industry standard for 10Gb optical transmission over long distance backbone and interim distance in metropolitan areas. In order to easily expand the transmission capability while using existing equipment, a small-receptacle reception module is required to be installed into the transmission system easily.

"We have been providing the widely used optical receiver modules compliant with MSA (Metropolitan Service Area) An urban area with at least 50,000 people plus surrounding counties. There are 306 MSAs and 428 RSAs (rural service areas) in the U.S. MSAs and RSAs are used to allocate cellular licenses.  for surface mounted packaging-type 10Gbit optical receivers. However, with the expected increase in demand for a ROSA-type receiver, we developed the ROSA-type receiver module for XMD-MSA compliant with XFP," said Masayuki Tsuboi, President of Optical Component Company at Oki Electric Industry. "Samples of this receiver will be provided worldwide and during the fiscal year ending March 2008, we aim to sell 60 thousand of these two modules by promoting them for use in various kinds of optical transmission equipment."

OKI's 10Gb ROSA-type receiver module will be displayed at OKI's booth (#3351) at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exposition exposition or exhibition, term frequently applied to an organized public fair or display of industrial and artistic productions, designed usually to promote trade and to reflect cultural progress.  and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOE2007) which will be held from March 27th to 29th at Anaheim, California “Anaheim” redirects here.
