OFFICERS STILL LOOKING FOR DEAD WOMAN'S KIN.
LANCASTER - Homicide investigators and coroner's officials are still trying to locate the next of kin of a woman found dead in a field.
The 49-year-old woman, whose name was not made public, died from multiple head injuries and blunt force trauma to the head before she was dumped on a field used as a storage yard near Sierra Highway north of Avenue M.
``We're checking DMV, the Department of Justice, missing persons reports, everything we can and we still can't locate any family,'' said Los Angeles County Coroner's spokesman David Campbell.
The woman's body was found in the field about 7 p.m. Tuesday by a man who works with the yard's owner, officials said. The man called 911 to report the finding.
Homicide investigators could not be reached for comment Friday.
The woman was found fully clothed but had no identification. Coroner's officials were able to identify the woman and found her home address in a Lancaster mobile home park but she lived alone and no information found there led them to any other family members.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
