A few days later, the woman's husband, who was too ill to help his wife, called the sergeant's supervisor, Kilby said. He praised Kilby's work, thanking the police officer for saving his wife who was his world. Simmons' husband wanted to further thank Kilby, but died a few months ago. So, Simmons and the bank honored Kilby instead. ``He deserves all of the praise that is given to him,'' Simmons said. ``He (her husband) would have liked to have been there to thank Sgt. Kilby.'' |
