OFFICE POOL WINS BIG JACKPOT 25 CO-WORKERS TO GET $112,000 EACH FROM SUPER LOTTO.

Byline: Jennifer Hamm Staff Writer

VAN NUYS - For more than three years, Glendale resident Lee Francis Templo has organized her company's office lottery lottery, scheme for distributing prizes by lot or other method of chance selection to persons who have paid for the opportunity to win. The term is not applicable when lots are drawn without payment by the interested parties to determine some matter, e.g.  pool.

The insurance company clerk said Tuesday that she and 24 co-workers are now deciding how they'll spend the $112,000 they each won from last weekend's $60 million jackpot.

``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

what to do, probably pay all my debts,'' said Templo, 44, who added that she also plans to take a vacation.

The jackpot was divided among 10 winning tickets and the California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W).  Fair Plan Group employees will divide their win of $2.8 million 25 times. None of them will be able to retire on their winnings, but at a high spirited news conference Tuesday in Van Nuys, they said they are delighted with the extra cash.

When the winning numbers - 44, 12, 7, 43, 16, 31 - were announced Saturday night, Diane Wimsatt of West Covina West Covina, city (1990 pop. 96,086), Los Angeles co., S Calif., in the San Gabriel valley; settled 1905, inc. 1923. Before World War II, West Covina was a small rural community where walnuts, wheat, and livestock were raised.  didn't know that there were nine other winners around the state.

``We went to bed millionaires and we woke up thousandaires,'' said Wimsatt, 51. ``But we're happy.''

Wimsatt thinks she'll finally be able to buy a house after waiting more than 20 years to pull together the money.

Sylmar resident Berniece Cain happened to be out of town Thursday when the pool money was collected, but a friend made sure to chip in for her.

Cain heard about her new wealth Monday when she returned from a weekend trip to Arizona. But it took a few minutes for the news to sink in, she said.

``I said, 'Why would you call me and lie?' '' said Cain, 60. ``Then I got very, very excited.''

After jumping up and down, Cain and her husband celebrated by spending the evening at the Moose Moose, river, Canada

Many in the group agreed with Templo's idea that getting rid of debt was a top priority. Others said they plan to buy a car, invest and make a down payment on a house.

Also on Tuesday, an unidentified Eagle Rock couple came forward with a winning ticket. The couple and the office pool group are the only Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  winners.

All but one of Saturday's Super Lotto jackpot winners have claimed their prize. A ticket sold in Carson has still not been claimed.

The office pool group agreed they won't keep all the money. They will soon host a pizza party for the other 70 people in the office.
