EDWARDS AIR FORCE BASE Edwards Air Force Base, U.S. military installation, 301,000 acres (121,805 hectares), S Calif., NE of Lancaster; est. 1933. Starring will be the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds flying team, the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team and the one-of-a-kind aircraft tested at Edwards.

Additionally, the show celebrates the 60th year of the founding of what is now NASA NASA: see National Aeronautics and Space Administration.

 Dryden Flight Research Center The Dryden Flight Research Center (DFRC), located inside Edwards Air Force Base, is an aeronautical research center operated by NASA. On March 26, 1976 it was named in honor of the late Hugh L. .

Gates will open at 7 a.m. each day. Flying will start at 10 a.m.

Visitors can enter from Rosamond Boulevard, which is off the Antelope Valley Freeway The Antelope Valley Freeway is a freeway in Los Angeles and Kern counties in southern California. It is signed as California State Highway 14 along its length. It connects Greater Los Angeles to the rapidly developing Antelope Valley.  east of Rosamond, or off Highway 58 east of Mojave.

The air show boasts nearly 100 static displays with more than 20 flying performances and several hours of nonstop flying. Edwards officials said there will be more than double the flying and four times the static displays of most base open houses west of the Mississippi.

In addition to showcasing the aircraft of Edwards' Air Force Flight Test Center and NASA Dryden Flight Research Center, the show will feature the Air Force Research Laboratory Propulsion Directorate and Marine Aircraft Group 46, both based at Edwards.

Among the aircraft on display today are ones being used in Iraq and Afghanistan: the Predator, Global Hawk, B-52 Stratofortress, B-1B Lancer, B-2 Spirit, F-16, C-17 Globemaster III and C-130J Hercules.

Also on display will be the new F-22A and the tilt-rotor CV-22.
