 be fooled by the name. Kitsaki Meats is known for a lot more than just its meat products. In fact, from its distant headquarters, Kitsaki has become the world's biggest and most successful producer and supplier of organic wild rice.

"The La Ronge Band has been producing wild rice for 26 years but Kitsaki Meats has been marketing the wild rice since 1998 using the brand name "Northern Lights." Since then, things really took off for us," says Terry Helary, Kitsaki manager.

Kitsaki Meats is one of only a few federally inspected meat plants in Saskatchewan. It can smoke, process and package a wide range of products and then sells them under a variety of labels, including its own, Northern Lights.
