OBITUARY WEXLER, 59, EDUCATOR, MOTHER.

SANTA CLARITA - Jacklynn Tunstall Wexler, a former Hart school district employee and wife of a district administrator, died March 17 of a heart attack. She was 59.

Wexler, vice principal at Edison School in Huntington Beach, grew up in Saugus and attended Hart High School, where she was a champion baton twirler and talented equestrienne. After working in the medical field, she returned to college in 1968 to study education. She graduated from California State University, Long Beach, and continued on to graduate school.

A resident of Manhattan Beach, Wexler was an avid traveler who organized student trips all over the world. Last year, she organized a trip to Cuba for educators. She was a mentor teacher, athletic administrator, student teacher supervisor and special education administrator.

Wexler developed state model programs in geography, driver education, work experience and career education. She was a consultant for the National Geographic Society and a member of the advisory board for the school of education at the University of California, Irvine.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Gary J. Wexler, director of curriculum and assessment for the William S. Hart Union High School District, and the couple's two children, Mitchell and Courtney.

A private burial is planned and a memorial service at Edison High is pending.

In lieu of flowers, conations may be made to the World Wildlife Fund or to the Jackie Wexler Memorial Scholarship Fund at Edison, which will provide a scholarship each year to an outstanding female athlete.
