The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at Mohawk Community Church for Marvin Franklin Farmer of Eugene, who died Aug. 7 of age-related causes. He was 79. Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.
A private burial will be held at Valley View Cemetery.
He was born Aug. 16, 1929, in Ponca, Ark., to William and Bea Raney Farmer. He married Helen Price on July 2, 1954, in Springfield.
He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a logger and worked in the timber industry.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; a daughter, Laura Heaton of Eugene; two sisters, Janice Turpin of Springfield and Vella Lanz of Eugene; a brother, William Farmer of Ephrata, Wash.; and two grandchildren.

Betty Lou Kaspar of Eugene died Aug. 6 of age-related causes at age 87.
She was born June 23, 1922, in Sioux City, Iowa, to William and Esther Lundstrom Leonard. She married Jule "Bud" Kaspar on May 30, 1944, in Minneapolis, Minn.
She graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor of science degree and earned a master's in education from the University of Oregon. She taught French at South Eugene and Sheldon high schools.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Jule "Jeff" Kaspar of Wilton, Calif.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 11 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church for Tammy Rolfson of Eugene, who died Aug. 7 of a cerebral aneurysm. She was 48. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.
She was born Jan. 28, 1961, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ralphael and Vonna Polad Plescia. She married Russell Rolfson on Sept. 2, 1982, in Salt Lake City.
She worked for a number of agencies in the federal government, most recently as a budget analyst for the Internal Revenue Service.
Survivors include her husband; her parents; her grandmother, Vonna Polad of Salt Lake City; three sons, Wesley of Sheridan, Brent of Harrisburg and Adam of Eugene; a sister, Neena Plant of West Valley City, Utah; a brother, Phillip Plescia of of West Valley City; and two grandchildren.
