Hartwell of Salem, formerly of Springfield, who died March 27 of age-related causes. He was 87. He was born Dec. 20, 1921, in Eugene, to Charles and Irene Patrick Hartwell. He married Marty Evans on Jan. 7, 1945, in Myrtle Point. He graduated high school and served in the Navy. He worked in the lumber industry. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kathy Hartwell of Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859.
