He was born July 10, 1910, in Lowell to Thomas and Rosa Mackey Blakely. Blakely served in the Army during World War II. He worked for the U.S. Forest Service from 1952 to 1958. He then worked for Lowell School District as a school bus driver and bus mechanic until his retirement in 1975. He is survived by two nieces and two nephews.
