Lester Angevine

JUNCTION CITY Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  - Lester Angevine of Junction City died April 24 of heart failure at age 72.

He was born May 2, 1934, in New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 to Lester and Dorothy Scharfenberg Angevine. He married Dorothea Henry on Nov. 13, 1955, in New York. He worked as a Volkswagen mechanic and motel manager and also had been employed by the city of Monroe and Dari-Mart.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Paul of Fresno, Calif., and Greg of Junction City; two daughters, Gail Clemens of Port Townsend, Wash., and Beth Robinson of Junction City; a brother, Dennis of New York; two sisters, Jo Ann Coropassi of New York and Dorothy McBride of California; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A son, Troy, and a grandson, Travis, died previously.

A private service is planned. Arrangements by Alpha Cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire. It is an ancient and widespread practice, second only to burial. Grace Boyd

Grace Macariola Boyd of Eugene died April 21 of cancer at age 55. No service is planned.

She was born Nov. 15, 1951, in Tacloban City Tacloban City is the largest city and regional center of the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. It is also the capital city of Leyte. Jimmy Boyd (born January 9 1939) is an American singer, musician, and actor.

Jimmy Boyd was born in an old farmhouse in McComb, Mississippi.

Marie Brainard

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. May 19 at the Coos Bay Coos Bay (ks), city (1990 pop. 15,076), Coos co., SW Oreg., a port of entry on Coos Bay; founded 1854 as Marshfield, inc. 1874, renamed 1944.  Church of Christ for Marie I. Brainard of Anchorage, formerly of Lane County, who died April 24 of age-related causes at age 93.

She was born March 5, 1914, in Minnesota. She married Roy Brainard on Oct. 22, 1932, in Eugene. He died in December 1984.

Survivors include three daughters, Abbie Bowman of Ashland, Florence Garcia of Lancaster, Calif., and Madeline Knowlton of Anchorage; two sons, Warren of Coos Bay and David of Florence; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A son, Roy; a grandson, Samuel Knowlton; and a granddaughter, Julia Knowlton Dull, died previously.

Arrangements by Kehl's Funeral Home in Anchorage. Inurnment will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Coos Bay Church of Christ, Turner Retirement Home in Turner or the Christian Church of Anchorage.

Leslie Carrothers

Leslie Gene Carrothers of Eugene died April 26 of leukemia at age 73.

He was born Aug. 2, 1933, in Eugene to Fredrick and Mildred Wallace Carrothers. He married Wilda Armstrong on Jan. 15, 1955, in Stevenson, Wash. He served on the USS Sproston USS Sproston was the name of two destroyers of the United States Navy. Both ships were named for Lieutenant John G. Sproston, an officer of the US Navy during the American Civil War.  from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation. . Lorie Cross

He was born Feb. 23, 1920, in Sherman, Texas, to Marvin and Lessie Shockey Cross. He married Harriett Leigh on May 13, 1945, in Norfolk, Va. She died July 15, 2002.

He served in the Navy as a radio electronics technician during World War II. He was a woodcarver, routed sign maker, cabinetmaker and contractor. He and his wife co-owned Lorie Cross Paint, later known as Lorie Cross Wall Decor and Lorie Cross Frames.

Survivors include three daughters, Ann Stanley of Eugene, Elizabeth Cross of Santa Ynez, Calif., and Lynn Keys of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a son, Michael of Scottsdale; a brother, Billy of The Dalles dalles

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. May 15 at Peace Presbyterian Church in Eugene for W.G. "Bill" Green of Eugene, who died April 27 of age-related causes at age 88.

He was born July 20, 1918, in Portland to Albert and Angie Beaman Green. He married Mary Rear on April 18, 1943, in Marysville, Calif.

He served in the Army, attaining the rank of captain. He worked in the lumber industry and was a partner in A.E. Green Lumber Inspection. He later was a home builder.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick; two daughters, Peggy Green and Jacqui Green Danielson; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

"Joan" Hargrove

VENETA - Lola "Joan" Hargrove of Veneta died April 22 of cancer at age 66. No service is planned.

She was born Oct. 30, 1940, in South Bend, Wash. She married Keith Hargrove on April 14, 1958, in Newport. She worked as a bus driver in Yachats and Veneta and raised quarter horses and cattle.

Survivors include her husband; her mother, Catherine Trotter; two daughters, Susan Rosdahl of Veneta and Penny Hargrove of Marcola; two sisters, Judy Wilkinson of Greenleaf and Sandy Neely of Eugene; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Loren Hibbard

COTTAGE GROVE - Loren E. Hibbard of Cottage Grove died April 24 of age-related causes at age 86.

He was born July 15, 1920, in San Francisco to Orval and Hazel Hibbard. He married Phyllis Vincent on Dec. 1, 1943, in Cottage Grove. She died in 1983. He married Rose Mary Thies on Dec. 2, 1989, in Walker.

Hibbard served in the Army's 82nd Airborne unit in World War II and later worked in the merchant marine. He owned and operated Pam's Sunnyside Greenhouses for 41 years and Pam's Sunnyside Florist for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Terry of Cottage Grove; two daughters, Pam Thies and Chris Watson, both of Cottage Grove; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Duckworth of Auburn, Wash., and Deborah Markham of SeaTac, Wash.; and six grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

A private service will be later. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.

Amos Hoerger

Amos W. Hoerger of Yorktown, Va., formerly of Lane County, died April 10 of age-related causes at age 90.

He was born Sept. 17, 1916, in Lucas, S.D., to Charles and Mabel Allen Hoerger. He married Myrna Ford in 1942, and they divorced in 1948. He married Evelyn Altwine in 1950, and they divorced in 1999.

He served in the military in World War II. Hoerger had worked as a teacher, principal and superintendent in various locations, including as a teacher in Mapleton, a principal in Dayville and a business instructor at Lane Community College in Florence.

Survivors include four daughters, DeEtta Hiatt of Eugene, Rozella Thoms of Hesperia, Calif., Marianne Rogers of Springfield and Regina Penfold of Lane County; and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His former wives; his life partner of three years, Dorothy Fuller; and a grandson, Kevin Hoerger, died previously.

Edward Knupp

Edward "Paul" Knupp of Eugene died April 25 of age-related causes at age 80. No service is planned.

He was born July 23, 1926, in Ligonier, Pa. He married his wife, Wanda, on Oct. 30, 1965, in San Anselmo, Calif. He served in the Pacific with the Navy during World War II. He later worked as an accountant.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Chelle Fortner of Eugene and Rhonda Knupp of Reno, Nev.; a son, Richard of Eugene; two sisters; two brothers; and two grandchildren.

Nita Hyett

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 5, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Nita E. Hyett of Eugene. She died April 26 of age-related causes at age 83.

She was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Hubbard to Robert and Juanita Mays Carver. She married Robert Hyett on June 7, 1946, in Mapleton.

A high school graduate, Hyett was a homemaker and seamstress.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathie Barrett and Rhonda Steward, both of Eugene, and Karen Walker of Mapleton; a son, Jeff of Florence; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 2003 and a grandson, Robert Hyett II, died previously.

After the service, burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park. Remembrances to River Park Nursing Home of the Alzheimer's Association.

Danny Steele

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Danny Gene Steele of Eugene, who died April 27 of cancer. He was 61.

He was born Aug. 31, 1945, in Springfield, Mo., to Homer and Bonieta Campbell Steele. He and his wife, Doris, were married on June 26, 1977, in Eugene.

He served as an aircraft mechanic in the Navy during the Vietnam War Vietnam War, conflict in Southeast Asia, primarily fought in South Vietnam between government forces aided by the United States and guerrilla forces aided by North Vietnam. . He later worked as a truck driver and was a dispatcher Software that determines what pending tasks should be done next and assigns the available resources to accomplish it. It may execute other programs or generate a list for human operators to follow. See scheduler.  for Bi-Mart for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Jennifer Steele, Tina Kammerzell and Sherri Kammerzell, all of Eugene; five sisters, Kay Netz of Cheney, Wash., Janet Gullette of Wethersfield, Conn., Mary Lou Lathem of Fair Grove, Mo., Jackie Doyle of St. Louis, and Lisa Butts of Joplin, Mo.; one brother, Larry of Fair Grove, Mo.; and two grandchildren. A son, Albert, died previously.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Remembrances to the Pearl Buck Center.

Geraldine Murphey

SPRINGFIELD - Geraldine Marie Murphey of Springfield died April 27 of age-related causes at age 81. No service is planned.

She was born Nov. 12, 1925, in Portland to Frank and Marie Bogard Yost.

She married James Murphey in August 1960 in Reno, Nev. He died in February 2003. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Richard White of Springfield; a daughter, Carol Klopp of Bentonville, Ark.; a stepdaughter step·daugh·ter
