Byline: The Register-Guard

Doris Sirotek

A celebration of life will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Trinity United Methodist Church for Doris Maxine Sirotek of Eugene. She died April 2 of stroke-related causes at age 92.

She was born Nov. 19, 1914, in Creswell to Marion and Callie Welbourn Bolin. She married Rudolph Sirotek on May 12, 1934, in Eugene. He died April 20, 1976.

She graduated from high school in Creswell. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelly Brockel of Steilacoom, Wash.; a son, Russell of Eugene; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Two daughters died previously - Diane Lawrence in 2006 and Bonnie Herman in 1978.

Burial will be in Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Remembrances to the American Cancer Society.

Ruth Hiatt

SPRINGFIELD - Ruth Vera Hiatt of Springfield died March 28 of age-related causes. She was 95.

Hiatt was born Nov. 2, 1911, in Orson, Iowa, to Chris and Verella Crum Gakin. She married Dewey Hiatt on Sept. 17, 1931, in Rapid City, S.D. He died Oct. 16, 1963.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include four sons, Bernard of Springfield, Russell of Cove, Wendell of Eugene and Gene of McKenzie Bridge; 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A private family service and burial were in West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home.

Nita Nusbaum

BELLFOUNTAIN - Nita E. Nusbaum of Bellfountain died March 29 of age-related causes at age 81. A memorial service will be later.

She was born Nov. 30, 1925, in Eugene to David and Hazel Haynes Macauley. She married Hermon Nusbaum on Nov. 19, 1947, in Reno, Nev.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Frank of Bellfountain; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A daughter, Susan Goracke, died previously.

A private family graveside service was held in Bellfountain. Arrangements by McHenry Funeral Home in Corvallis.

Flora Hettick

A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. April 14 at Emerald Bible Fellowship in Eugene for Flora Justine Hettick of Eugene, who died March 31 of leukemia at age 85.

Hettick was born June 16, 1921, in Silverton to August and Signa Engbretson Woelke. She married Leo Ramp in April 1940 in Salem. He died in the early 1940s. She married Lester Hettick on Aug. 13, 1946, in Eugene. He died in 1989.

She graduated from high school in Silverton. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Larry of Seattle and Steven of Hangzhou, China; a sister, Margaret Fossholm of Silverton; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be in West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Clarence Sheelar

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield for Clarence Darwin "Ace" Sheelar of Springfield, who died March 30 of cardiac arrest. He was 60.

Sheelar was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Clarence and Iowa Hill Sheelar. He married Lynn Castleberry in 2004 in Reno, Nev.

Sheelar was a sheet metal engineer for Olympic Fabricators.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Aaron of Springfield; a daughter, Wendy Wilson of Springfield; a brother, Warren Sheelar of Farmington, N.M.; and five grandchildren.

Eleanor Elbert

The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Lane Memorial Funeral Gardens & Home in Eugene for Eleanor Maureen Elbert of Eugene, who died April 1 of Alzheimer's disease. She was 78.

She was born Jan. 23, 1929, in LaBolt, S.D., to John and Hilma Swanson Larson. She married Clyde Elbert on Sept. 29, 1951. He died in October 1987.

She was an administrator in the travel industry, including Adventures in Travel and Bronson Travel in Eugene.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Elbert-Lusk of Veneta; three sisters, Louise Price of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Gerri Bowman and Elaine Hultquist, both of Minneapolis; and two grandchildren. A daughter, Brenda Elbert, died previously.

Burial will be in Lane Memorial Gardens. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association.

Frederick Young Jr.

COTTAGE GROVE - A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 5 at the Church of Christ at Sixth and Gibbs streets in Cottage Grove for Frederick C. Young Jr., of Cottage Grove, who died April 1 of age-related causes. He was 80.

He was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Lodge Grass, Mont., to Frederick and Hazel Waggoner Young. He married Ruth Wartnow on Nov. 24, 1950, in Kalispell, Mont.

Young served in the Army from 1945 to 1947 with the occupation forces in Japan. He worked in coal mines in Montana, in the woods and in a sawmill. He served in the Forest Service from 1964 to 1984, then retired.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rick of Salem, Michael of Jasper and Jerry of Springfield; two daughters, Debby Young and Becky King, both of Cottage Grove; a sister, Madelyn Coleman, of Kalispell; three brothers, Joe, Wes and Gary Young, all of Kalispell; 15 grandchildren and 14 great- grandchildren.

Lattie Waits

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Munselle-Rhodes Funeral Home in Milton-Freewater for Lattie Mae Waits of Kennewick, Wash., formerly of Pleasant Hill and the Springfield area. She died March 28 of age-related causes at age 97.

She was born Oct. 25, 1909, in Mansfield, Ark. She married Cecil Waits on Nov. 20, 1927, in Panama, Okla. He died Jan. 26, 1983.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Edward of Hermiston and Cecil Jr. "Pete" of Kennewick; two daughters, Norma Griggs of Prineville and Connie Halsey of Hermiston; a sister, Betty Kelly of Fort Smith, Ark.; 16 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Two sons, Thomas and Richard, and four grandchildren, Robin, Patrick, Kim and Randall, died pre- viously.

Burial will be in the Milton-Freewater Cemetery. Remembrances to Walla Walla Community Hospice.

Laura Roberts

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. April 7 at 1212 A. St. in Springfield for Laura Marie Roberts of Kalispell, Mont., formerly of Eugene, who died March 11 of a brain aneurysm at age 45.

She was born March 11, 1962, in Roseburg to Bill and Gloria Stoner Roberts.

She worked as a bookkeeper, bartender and casino runner.

Survivors include her father, of Drain; her mother, Gloria Meier of Eugene; four children, Rodney Gates, Ronald Peterson and Loren Peterson, all of Kalispell and Ryan Gates of Chicago ; four sisters, Virginia Roberts and Mickie Winfrey, both of Springfield, Julie Katz of Yoncalla and Kerry Brence of Veneta; a brother, Loyd Daggs II of Denver; and four grandchildren.
