Richard Clark

A celebration of life will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30 at 1644 E. 25th Ave. in Eugene for Richard C. Clark of Eugene, who died Sept. 17 of age-related causes at age 90.

He was born Feb. 7, 1916, in Pittsfield, Mass., to Arthur and Mary Gilkey Clark.

He and his wife, Elizabeth, were married July 31, 1942, in Twin Falls, Idaho.

Clark was an architect.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Valerie Laurita of Naples, Italy; a son, Arthur of Eugene; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Robert, died previously.

Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the Izaak Walton League of America, Eugene Chapter.

Pat Turnbull

COTTAGE GROVE - Pat Turnbull of Cottage Grove died Sept. 21 of age-related causes at age 82. No service is planned.

She was born July 23, 1924, in Tillamook to Rex and Marsha Umphlette Bailey.

She married Tom Turnbull on Sept. 21, 1946, in Tillamook.

Turnbull served in the Navy WAVES during World War II, from 1943 to 1946.

She worked as a secretary for many years, retiring from Lincoln Middle School in 1983.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Jim of Hamburg, N.J.; a daughter, Janet Collins of Phoenix, Ariz.; a brother, Bob Bailey of Houston; and two grandchildren.

Inurnment will be later in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the Alzheimer's Association, Cascade Coast Chapter, 1238 Lincoln St., Eugene, OR 97401.

Violet Rich

Violet E. Rich of Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Lane County, died Sept. 17 of emphysema at age 65. The graveside funeral was held Sept. 22 at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery in Bakersfield.

She was born Nov. 20, 1940, in Oroville, Calif., to Sylvester and Clarena Conklin Moss.

She married James Pedigo in 1959 and he later died. She then married and later divorced Fred Rich.

Rich owned a shake mill with her second husband and had worked in agriculture, housing and farming. She also was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Daniel Rich of Bakersfield, Jimmie Rich of San Francisco and Walter "Scott" Rich of Cave Junction; two daughters, Pamela Jaeger of Bellingham, Wash., and Karen Mooney of Eugene; five brothers, Alvy Moss of Olivehurst, Calif., Wayne Moss of Omaha, Neb., Mervin Moss of Alamogordo, N.M., Eugene Moss of Iowa and Bobby Crabtree of Yuba City, Calif.; four sisters, Veda Dodson of Oroville, Alma Hall of Chico, Calif., Aileen Tucker of Paradise, Calif., and Nadine Stover of Longview, Wash.; 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Two sons and two daughters died previously: Freddie Pedigo in 1963; Stanley Rich in 1989; Bonnie Rich in 1988; and Delight Rich in 1991.

Elizabeth Strub

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Eugene for Elizabeth Theresa "Betty" Strub of Eugene, who died Sept. 20 of age-related causes at age 79. Recitation of the rosary will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

She was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Fargo, N.D., to Albert and Mary Rohrenbach Nowak.

She married Joseph Strub on Nov. 26, 1947 in Moorhead, Minn.

Strub was a registered nurse who had worked at the Eugene Hospital and Clinic and retired from doctors Ellison's and Katul's office.

Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Monica Forsman of Corvallis, Terese Zawodny of San Gabriel, Calif., Jane Sweet of Hammond and Mary Hance of Seattle; five sons, Mike, Joe and Tom, all of Eugene, John of Tacoma, Wash., and Chris of Newberg; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Francis St Clair

CRESWELL - The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at Creswell Presbyterian Church for Francis Roy St Clair of Creswell, who died Sept. 19 of cancer at age 75. Burial will be Monday at Creswell Pioneer Cemetery.

St Clair was born April 16, 1931, in Eugene to Roy and Thelma Smith St Clair.

He married Muriel Shoup on Nov. 12, 1950 in Creswell, and they later divorced. He married Myong Ye Im on Feb. 1, 1971, in Seoul, South Korea. She died Jan. 12, 2005.

He served in the Air Force in the Korean conflict and the Vietnam War, retiring in 1974.

He then worked for Eugene Fastener and Cascade Home Center in Creswell.

Survivors include two sons, Richard of Boise and William of Tucson, Ariz.; a daughter, Julie Herrick of Vernon, Fla.; a sister, Viola Scoby of Renton, Wash.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Arrangements by England's Creswell Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the American Cancer Society.

Josephine Johnson

Josephine Jeanette Johnson of Eugene died Sept. 21 of age-related causes. She was 86.

She was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Tillamook to Ralph and Bonney Sherwood Lucas.

She married Albert Johnson on April 20, 1939, in Vancouver, Wash.

She was a homemaker.

During World War II, she operated an overhead crane in the shipyards.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Karen Priest of Eugene; a son, Larry of Salem; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A private family memorial service is planned. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene.

Vivian McCauley

Vivian "Peggy" Franklin McCauley of Eugene died Sept. 18 of cancer at age 84. A private service is planned.

McCauley was born March 7, 1922, in Cumberland, Wis., to Earl and Edith Reisburg Levy.

She married Daniel R. Franklin Jr., and he later died. She then married John McCauley.

She served in the Air Force as a parachute rigger and repair person, attaining the rank of corporal. She also was a homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel "Skip" Franklin of Springfield and Miles "Scooter" Franklin of Hopkins, S.C.; a daughter, Gail Cole of Eugene; two sisters, Carol Sirianni of Cumberland and Eleanor Bethel of Minneapolis; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grand- children and one great-great-grandchild. Both husbands, a daughter, Sherryl Appling, and a son, Mark Franklin, died previously.

Robert Parsons

VENETA - The Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at St. Thomas Becket Catholic Church in Veneta for Robert William Parsons of Veneta, who died Sept. 20 of heart failure due to complication of diabetes at age 68.

Recitation of the rosary will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lane Memorial Park in Eugene.

Parsons was born Jan. 17, 1938, in Charleston, W.Va., to Denver and Stella Borre Parsons.

He married Carmela Wachsmuth on Aug. 19, 1961, in Portland.

He worked as a teacher and media specialist.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Karen Pankratz of Lake Oswego, Brenda Stoller of Everett, Wash., Kristin Gorsuch of The Dalles and Kimberly Lucas of Springfield; two sons, Denis of Mount Angel and Kevin of Nashville, Tenn.; two sisters, Virginia Snoke of Lancaster, Ohio, and Mary Coffel of Roseburg; two brothers, John of Eugene and Jim of Salem; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. An infant daughter, Sharon Parsons, died pre- viously.

Duane Cargill

LEABURG - Duane J. Cargill of Leaburg and Honolulu died Sept. 17 of cancer at age 67.

He was born June 27, 1939, in Springfield to Jeff and Margaret Bell Cargill. He married Barbara Reed on Sept. 9, 1967, in Eugene.

Cargill was a general contractor and president and general manager of Western Engineering Ltd. in Hawaii.

Survivors include his wife; two children, Dana Cargill and Matthew Cargill, both of Honolulu; a sister, Opal Castle of Springfield; and a brother, Roy of Bend.

A private service is planned. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

Clara Buchta

MCKENZIE BRIDGE - The Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at St. Benedict's Catholic Retreat in McKenzie Bridge for Clara Buchta of McKenzie Bridge. She died Sept. 21 of small cell cancer at age 58.

She was born May 16, 1948, in North Dakota to Frank and Pauline Garman Goetz. She married Sidney Buchta on May 18, 1968, in Balta, N.D.

She worked as the craft and fabric manager at the Springfield Wal-Mart store.

Survivors include her husband; her mother, Pauline Goetz of Balta; a daughter, Karen James of Cornelius; a son, Curtis of Aloha; two brothers, Frank Goetz of Pekin, N.D., and Jerry Goetz of Rugby, N.D.; a sister, Jane Tennancour of Tolna, N.D.; and four grand- children.

The family requests no flowers. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

Alvin Arbuckle

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26 at DeMoss-Durdan Funeral Home in Corvallis for Alvin Ray Arbuckle of Eugene, who died Sept. 21 of age-related causes at age 76. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Following the service, burial will be at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Philomath.

He was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Philomath to Benjiman and Iva Arbuckle. He married Frances Thompson in 1954, and they divorced in 1968. He and his wife, Della, were married later.

Arbuckle served in the Army in Japan during the Korean War and attained the rank of corporal. He worked in the irrigation and residential water pump business and was a former co-owner of Moore-Rane manufacturing, which specialized in irrigation.

Survivors include his wife, Della; a daughter, Kathleen Arbuckle of Eugene; a son, Steven of Eugene; and two brothers, Henry of Philomath and Benjamin of Florida. His former wife, Frances, died in 1986, and a son, Charles, died in 1988.
