Lawrence Thayer

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. April 21 at Lamb Cottage, Skinner Butte Skinner Butte (also called Skinner's Butte) is a prominent hill on the north edge of downtown Eugene, Oregon, United States, near the Willamette River. Skinner Butte is a local landmark and the location of Skinner Butte Park, a municipal park.  Park in Eugene for Lawrence Edward "Larry" Thayer of Springfield, who died April 2 of cancer at age 82.

He was born March 10, 1924, in Stayton to Edward and Ethel Grimes Thayer. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation. . He worked as a fiberglass fabricator and a truck driver.

Survivors include two sons, Richard and Brian; a daughter, Karen Thayer; a brother, Earl; a sister, Helen Johnston; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A son, Steven, and a daughter, Sherry Gonyea, died previously.

Elaine Johnson Elaine Johnson (née Charlton, previously Davies) was a fictional character in the defunct Channel 4 soap opera Brookside. She was portrayed by Beverley Hills from 1996 until 1998.  

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. April 22 at Anna Marie Creekside at 822 Golf View Drive in Medford for Elaine M. Johnson of Medford, formerly of Mapleton, who died April 10 of osteoporosis at age 83.

She was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Mapleton to Chris and Irma Beck. She married Keith Johnson on June 14, 1941, in Mapleton. She worked as a secretary at Mapleton High School.

Survivors include two sons, Chris and Doug; a daughter, Andrea Johnson; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Her husband died Dec. 11, 2002.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. April 22 at Rogue Valley The Rogue Valley is a farming and timber-producing region in southwestern Oregon in the United States. located along the middle Rogue River and its tributaries in Josephine and Jackson counties, the valley forms the cultural and economic heart of southern Oregon near the California  Funeral Alternatives in Medford.

Effie Fox

JUNCTION CITY Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  - A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. April 22 at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church in Junction City for Effie Lucille Hought Fox of Junction City. She died April 11 of age-related causes at age 77.

She was born Jan. 15, 1929, in Noonan, N.D., to James and Sophie Jacobson Hought. She married Gilbert Fox Jr. in 1950 in Eugene. He died Nov. 6, 1971. Juanita Good

CRESWELL - Juanita E. Good of Creswell died April 11 of age-related causes at age 95. No service is planned.

She was born Aug. 12, 1910, in Chambers in chambers adj. referring to discussions or hearings held in the judge's office, called his chambers. It is also called "in camera." (See: in camera) , Neb., to Charley and Mary Kutscher Blair. She married Frank Good in 1934 in Chambers. She worked at Eugene Cannery for 35 years.

Survivors include a son, Frank; a daughter, Susan Good; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1978.

Lona Plotts

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 17, at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene for Lona Plotts of Eugene, who died April 6 of age-related causes at age 94.

She was born Jan. 4, 1912, in Dresden, Kan., to Frederick and Stella Prather Bates Bates   , Katherine Lee 1859-1929.

American educator and writer best known for her poem "America the Beautiful," written in 1893 and revised in 1904 and 1911.
. She married Logan Plotts on Dec. 24, 1934, in Stockville, Neb. He died in May 2002.

She worked as an office manager in the medical field, retiring in 1980 from Pathology Consultants.

DyAnn Turner

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. April 21 at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene for DyAnn Lynn Turner of Eugene, who died April 7 of lymphoma at age 56.

She was born Sept. 25, 1949, in Eugene to Donald and Evelyn Beatty Conradi. She married Scott Turner June 24, 1982, in Eugene. She was a clerical worker for state and county agencies.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Deena Engelmann; two sons, Daniel and Douglas; her parents; a grandmother, Metta Beatty; a brother, Bill Conradi; a sister, Sonja Feldman; and three grand- children.

Remembrances to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (A.S.P.C.A.), chartered in 1866 in New York by Henry Bergh to shelter homeless animals, to assist farmers in caring for their livestock, and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the prosecution of  or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

She was born July 6, 1919, in Anthony, Kan., to Jacob and Myrtle Seibert Hoffman. She married John Berg in 1974 in Eugene. He died Dec. 18, 1993.

She had worked as an office manager and a secretary at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. William Stoneberg

A memorial service will be held at noon Sunday, April 16, at 600 16th St. N.E. in Salem for former Springfield and Eugene resident William Lewis "Willy" Stoneberg of Salem. He died April 9 of end stage liver disease Liver Disease Definition

He was born June 3, 1950, in Eugene to Bill and Peggy Holden Stoneberg. He married Kathryn Pyritz on June 7, 1986, in Reedsport. He was a minister and prison chaplain.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas; three daughters, Kristin Stoneberg, Carissa Stoneberg and Anna Stoneberg; three sisters, Karen Stoneberg, Deeanne Workhoven and Sara Henry; three brothers, Neal, Wally and Knute; and two grandchildren.

A meal will follow the service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Livingstone Adventist Academy, 5771 Fruitland Road N.E. in Salem. Arrangements by Crown Memorial Funeral Service in Tualatin.

Ila Clark

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield, for Ila Maxine Clark of Eugene. She died April 12 of age-related causes at age 87. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. today, April 14, at the funeral home.

She was born April 18, 1918 in Montezuma, Iowa to Ray and Alpha Werner Lockard. She married Malcolm "Virgel" Clark on Dec. 12, 1941, in Shady Cove. She was an elementary school and homemaker.

Survivors include two sons, Virgel and Sheldon. Her husband died in December 2005.

Thomas Hart

SPRINGFIELD - Thomas G. "Tom" Hart of Springfield died April 11 of cancer at age 66. No service is planned.

He was born Oct. 29, 1939, in Neillsville, Wis., to Garald and Lillian Gangler Hart. He and his wife, Mary Jo, were married June 23, 1978 in Reno, Nev. He owned an automotive supply business.

Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Misty Miller, Terri Groenig, Jane Petersen and Jill Schuette; two sisters, Dorothy Burr and Elaine Bedell Bedell could refer to

Frances Klute

A memorial service was held April 7 for Frances Mary Klute of Eugene, who died April 2 of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) (ā'mīətrōf`ik, sklĭrō`sĭs) or motor neuron disease,  at age 81.

She was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Detroit to Julius and Ann Hurley Kramer. She married Daniel Klute on May 14, 1945, in Detroit. She tested aircraft engines at Chrysler during World War II.

Survivors include four sons, Michael, Daniel, David and Steven; five daughters, Mary Burge, Margaret Klute, Elizabeth Klute, Martha Holman and Helen Klute; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Her husband died Sept. 23, 1964.

Steve Imsland

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, April 17, at Camp Creek Church in Springfield, for Steve F. Imsland of Springfield. He died April 9 of cancer at age 60.

He was born April 15, 1945 in Seattle to Cliff and Martha Holwager Imsland. He married Ann Kelly on Aug. 26, 1983, in Ketchikan, Alaska. He worked for Borden Wood Products for 28 years.

He was born May 13, 1954, in Hawthorne, Nev., to Lewis and LaRue Clarke Petty. He married Katie Hynes on March 31, 1984, in Bradford, England. He was an instructor in the English department at Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885. .

Survivors include his wife; a son, James; a daughter, Hannah; a brother, John; and two sisters, Cherie Zelinski and Fawn Cassidy.

His body was donated to the University of Washington School of Medicine The University of Washington School of Medicine (UWSOM) is a public medical school located in Seattle, Washington. It is a graduate school affiliated with the University of Washington, and is the only medical school in the states of Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, and Idaho. .

Stephen Sparkman

Survivors include his parents; a brother, Don; and two sisters, Sandra Remy and Rhonda Dickens.

Velma Newton

A cryptside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 17 at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene for Velma I. Newton of Dallas, formerly of Elmira, who died April 12 of age-related causes at age 86.

She was born Aug. 18, 1919, in Myrtle Point to Edd and Carrie Brown. She married Willard Newton on Aug. 23, 1939, in Roseburg. She was a wife and mother.

Survivors include a son, Dennis; two sisters, Velda Whetham and Sylvia Garrett Stevens; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Her husband died in July 1983, and a son, David, also died previously.
