SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be held March 15 for Esther Ellen Nyburg of Springfield, who died March 10 of age-related causes. She was 83.

She was born Oct. 1, 1922, in McGrath, Minn., to Charles and Gerda Anderson Bergstrom. She married Vernon Nyburg in Springfield on June 14, 1969.

She was a housewife who enjoyed sewing and crafts. She was a longtime active member of Springfield First Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mary Ellen Stensgaard of Springfield; three sons, Ray Gruener of Springfield, Don Gruener of Klamath Falls and Roger Gruener of Gig Harbor, Wash.; five brothers, Ted Bergstrom of Nampa, Idaho, Ed Bergstrom of Louisville, Ky., Clifford Bergstrom of Oregon City, Kenneth Bergstrom of Portland and Reuben Bergstrom of Mollala; and 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Her first husband, Harvey Gruener, died previously.

Wednesday's celebration will be at 3 p.m. at Springfield First Church of the Nazarene, 1761 E St. Springfield Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield First Church of the Nazarene youth group.

Folke Carlson

The funeral will be March 14 for Folke F. Carlson of Eugene, who died March 9 of age-related causes. He was 86.

He was born April 3, 1919, in Sorsele, Sweden, to Kristina and Frans Carlson. He married Irene Melby in Edmonton, Alberta, on Nov. 27, 1949.

Carlson attended public schools in Edmonton. He was an auto mechanic who owned and operated service and auto repair stations. He lived in Edmonton, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and Spokane before moving to Eugene in 1986.

He enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and was a member of the Sons of Norway.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Barry of Eugene; and 10 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren.

Tuesday's funeral will be at 1 p.m. at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home. Burial will be at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. Poole-Larsen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
