A memorial service will be held March 7 for Dottice Anna Snook of Eugene, who died March 1 of age-related causes. She was 97. She was born Dec. 19, 1908, in Drain, to William and Mary Noun 1. William and Mary - joint monarchs of England; William III and Mary II Holliday Cary. She married Oscar Snook on Dec. 24, 1945, in Roseburg. He died April 4, 1993. When she was growing up in Elkton, she had a pet trout. She graduated from high school in Elkton. She was a homemaker and operated her own business, Snook Shell Supply, in the 1950s. She worked as a clerk at Quackenbush Hardware in the 1960s and 1970s. Snook enjoyed square dancing, traveling in her RV and fishing. She was a member of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club Square dance clubs are the primary form for organization within the recreational activity of square dancing, and more specifically modern Western square dance. This article's focus is the modern Western square dance club, and it is understood in the context of this article that . Sjogren Howard of Prineville, formerly of Springfield, who died Feb. 28 of congestive heart failure congestive heart failure, inability of the heart to expel sufficient blood to keep pace with the metabolic demands of the body. In the healthy individual the heart can tolerate large increases of workload for a considerable length of time. . She was 89. Howard was born Aug. 30, 1916, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Jonas and Augusta Sjogren. She married Milo Milo, athlete of ancient Greece Milo (mī`lō) or Milon (mī`lŏn), fl. 500 B.C., athlete of ancient Greece, b. Crotona. Howard on Aug. 31, 1934, in Roseburg. He died Feb. 1, 1971. She moved with her family to Elgarose, near Roseburg. She was a high school graduate and a homemaker. She moved to Springfield in 1944 and also had lived in Tacoma and Roseburg. She enjoyed family gatherings, bowling, fishing, playing cards and sports, and belonged to the Eagles Lodge. Survivors include a son, James of Eugene; a daughter, Judith Ann Winsor of Prineville; a sister, Alma Japp of Roseburg; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Saturday's celebration of life will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Church. Edward Stanton Edward Ross Stanton of Eugene died Feb. 27 of cancer. He was 90. Stanton was born May 26, 1915, in Chewelah, Wash. He married Marion Haynes on Aug. 2, 1943, in Muskegon, Mich. He graduated from high school. He lived in Eu- gene for 29 years and earlier lived in Milwaukee, Wis. He worked as a linen truck driver. Stanton enjoyed fly tying and fly fishing, and caught his last steelhead when he was 89. Survivors include his son, James of Twin Falls, Idaho

Stephen Sorenson A celebration of life will be held March 19 for Stephen Scott Sorenson of Eugene, who died Feb. 25 of pneumonia and heart failure. He was 66. Sorenson was born Jan. 19, 1940, in Los Angeles, to Clayton and Jeanette Sorenson. He married Mona Moore on April 7, 1961, in Visalia, Calif. He was a florist and the owner of Brighter Days Flowers in Springfield. Sorenson enjoyed interior decorating, cooking, camping and gardening. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Mandy, and taking her to work with him daily. He had lived in the Eugene area for 26 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Curt and Shawn, both of Eugene; a brother, Gary of Sequim, Wash.; and two grandchildren. Helene Robinson Helene M. Robinson of Portland, formerly of Eugene, died Feb. 28 of age-related causes. She was 93. Robinson was born May 30, 1912, in Eugene, to Kirkman Kirk´man n. 1. A clergyman or officer in a kirk. 2. A member of the Church of Scotland, as distinguished from a member of another communion. and Emily Lackey Robinson. She received a bachelor's degree in music from the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. She was a nationally recognized concert pianist and professor of piano, and was the author of several piano instruction books published in the 1960s and '70s. Bowles of Salem, formerly of Eugene, who died Dec. 30, 2005, of head injuries suffered in a fall. He was 83. Bowles was born March 28, 1922, in Portland, to Ward and Fay Karterman Bowles. He married Barbara Pitts in 1943. He served in the Navy in World War II. He lived in Eugene from 1961 to 1965 and served at the University of Oregon as a freshman track coach and assistant varsity track coach under Bill Bowerman. Bowles received a Ph.D. in physiology of exercise from the University of Oregon. He also had lived in Portland and Lake Oswego. He taught and assisted with the track program at the University of Portland The University of Portland (UP) is a private Catholic university located in Portland, Oregon. It is specifically affiliated with the Congregation of Holy Cross and is the sister school of the University of Notre Dame.
