Robert Engelbrecht

BLUE RIVER - A graveside service will be Oct. 28 for Robert Engelbrecht of Blue River, who died Oct. 23 of age-related causes. He was 88.

Engelbrecht was born Dec. 3, 1914, in Pleasant Ridge, Ill., to Henry and Lydia Blass Engelbrecht. He married Belva Soward in 1947. She died in 1998.

Engelbrecht served in the U.S. Army for three years during World War II. He worked in the logging and construction industries. Engelbrecht's hobbies included woodworking, and he was interested in building construction.

Survivors include three brothers, Adolph of Waldport, Erving of Birchwood, Wis., and Clarence of Ladysmith, Wis.; four sisters, Margaret Holmes of Exeland, Wis., Frieda Kamrowski of Fountain City, Wis., Mary Berman of Eau Claire, Wis., and Leona Olson of Birchwood, Wis. A brother, Rudolph, died previously.

Tuesday's service will be at 11 a.m. at Springfield Memorial Gardens with burial to follow. Visitation will be from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Hospice.
