Leola Towlerton

A memorial service will be June 9 for Leola C. Towlerton, 77, of Eugene, who died June 5 of age-related causes.

She was born on Oct. 20, 1925, in Osmond, Neb., to William and Alma (Meyer) Schaefer. She married Dale Towlerton on Sept. 28, 1944, in San Francisco. He died in 1996.

Towlerton was raised in Nebraska and then moved to Springfield in 1942. She graduated from Pleasant Hill School in 1943 and then went to Western Union School where she studied to be a teleprinter operator.

She enjoyed gardening, attending her grandchildren's sporting events, ceramics, playing cards and spending time with friends and family. She was a member of the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Nelson of Veneta and Carleen Rossberg of Elmira; two sons, Kenneth of Halstead, Kan., and Phil of Montesano, Wash.; two sisters, Opal Gammell and Esther Bailey, both of Springfield; eight grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren.

Monday's memorial service will be at 10 a.m. at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Inurnment will follow at the cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) Association, 27001 Agoura Road, Suite 150, Calabasas Hills, CA 91301.

Calvin Moss

ALPINE - A memorial service will be held June 10 for Calvin Moss of Alpine, who died June 4 from injures he received in an automobile accident. He was 84.

Moss was born Feb. 6, 1919, in Comanche, Okla., to William and Lula Barry Moss.

He married Audie Brown in Donna Ana County, N.M., on Sept. 2, 1939.

He served as an ammunitions specialist in the U.S. Army during World War II. Following his discharge, he moved to El Paso, Texas. In 1963, he moved to Alpine and worked at the University of Oregon as a carpenter until he retired in 1984.

Moss was active in the Bellfountain Community Church and the Monroe Veterans of Foreign Wars. His interests included carpentry, U.S. history, reading, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Charles of Bend, Dennis of Corvallis, David of Las Cruces, N.M., Donald of Molalla and Dan of Monroe; two daughters, Carol Morrison of Albany and Becky Bowman of Monroe; two brothers, Glen of Bloomfield, N.M., and Billy of Oregon City; a sister, Lois Brown of Las Cruces, N.M.; 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A grandson, Donny, and two brothers, Jack and Billy Moss Jr., died previously.

Tuesday's service will be at 11 a.m. at Bellfountain Community Church. A burial will follow the service at Bellfountain Cemetery.

McHenry Funeral Home in Corvallis is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Bellfountain Community Church or the Monroe Fire Depart- ment.
