OBITUARIES.Byline: The Register-Guard Dolores Ferguson Dolores D. Ferguson of Eugene died July 4 of a pulmonary embolism and infarction at age 54. Burial was July 14 at Hawthorne Cemetery in Grants Pass. She was born April 8, 1953, in Elizabeth, N.J., to Dominick and Peggy Angeli DeVito. She married Dick Ferguson on Oct. 27, 1979, in Grants Pass. She was a homemaker and had attended college for two years. Survivors include her husband and two sons, Matthew and Brad, both of Eugene. Arrangements by Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass. Nema Harding Nema May Lee Harding of Eugene died July 18 of age-related causes at age 88. A private service is planned. She was born Nov. 14, 1918, in Kooskia, Idaho, to Alexander and Inez Toll Hemphill. She married Maurice Harding on July 19, 1957, in Garden Grove, Calif. She worked as a secretary for US Rubber, a school bus driver in Drain, a waitress and in a department store. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Karen Viefhaus of Norco, Calif., and Tammy Wilhite of Eugene; a sister, Maxine Herring of Molalla; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A daughter, Sharol Wymore, died in 1981. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery in Portland. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Thurman Lanning SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Twin Rivers Baptist Church in Springfield for Thurman Julius Lanning of Springfield. He died July 18 of age-related causes at age 88. He was born Sept. 3, 1918, in Canton, N.C., to Charles and Lydia Wyatt Lanning. He married Irene Ksza on Feb. 18, 1942, and she died Aug. 20, 1952. He married E. Ruth Woods on Dec. 20, 1952 in Eureka, Calif. She died July 27, 2002. Lanning served in the Army Air Corps from 1938 to 1945, including service in World War II, and was awarded the Good Conduct medal, combat infantryman badge and a bronze service star. He worked in sawmills for 28 years. He held an associate's degree from the Lighthouse of International Foursquare Evangelism Bible College. Survivors include a son, David of Palm Springs, Calif.; three daughters, Elizabeth Devereaux and Lisa Voris, both of Springfield, and Kathy Bavaro of Newport; a brother, Jesse of Eugene; a sister, Charlotte Johnson of Springfield; 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. Leslie Oleson The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, July 23, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Leslie Buster Oleson of Salem, formerly of Springfield. He died July 17 of age-related causes at age 93. He was born Oct. 15, 1913, in Comstock to Ole and Anna Backlund Oleson. He attended school through the sixth grade, then worked in the woods as a high climber, topper and whistle punk. He worked for several years in Yosemite National Park, monitoring and correcting safety issues in the trees. He later worked for the Weyerhaeuser Company in Springfield until his retirement. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia McAlister of Salem and Marie Corron of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Theodore; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren. His wife, Betty Jean, and a great-grandchild, Kory Wiens, died previously. Burial will be in Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Remembrances to Hospice of Salem. Nancy Ralph Nancy A. Ralph of Eugene died July 13 of cancer at the age of 84. No service is planned. She was born Aug. 11, 1922, in Spokane to Orville and Mary Hittinger Jackson. She married Joseph Ralph on May 13, 1950, in Walla Walla, Wash. She graduated from high school in New Albany, Ind., in 1939. She attended Stephens Junior College, then received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Purdue University. She took teachers training courses at the University of Washington and taught in schools in Granite Falls, Wash., and Pasco, Wash. She is survived by her husband. Arrangements by Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to the Greenhill Humane Society. Clarification Marjorie Ryan, 88, of Cottage Grove, died July 16.
