Byline: The Register-Guard

Carolyn Anderson

SPRINGFIELD - Carolyn Mae Anderson of Springfield died June 29 of a heart attack at age 71.

She was born July 4, 1935, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Ared and Esther Bylling Reinke. She married Robert Anderson on Nov. 28, 1980, in Reno, Nev. He died Sept. 27, 2003.

She served as a clerk typist for the Marine Corps during the Korean War.

Survivors include her mother; a son, Jeffrey Hearn of Springfield; a stepdaughter, Nancy Jean Jordan of Danielsville, Ga.; two brothers, Theodor Reinke of Garden Valley, Calif., James Reinke of Nahalem, Ore.; a sister, Linda Abernathy of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; and two grandchildren.

A memorial will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Lutheran Church in Oakridge. A private burial will be held at Forestvale Memorial Park. Contributions to the American Legion Auxiliary. Arrangements by Oakridge Chapel of the Woods Funeral Home in Oakridge.

Jerry Cobb

LEABURG - The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 3, at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield for Jerry Wayne Cobb of Leaburg, who died June 27 of heart failure. He was 69.

He was born March 9, 1938, in Pampa, Texas, to Samuel and Stella Morris Cobb. He married Nona Ellen Dolby on Feb. 13, 1961, in Springfield.

He served in the Marine Corps and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Georgia Pacific.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Colleen Cobb of Leaburg; a son, James Cobb of Leaburg; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from noon to 5 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Major Family Funeral Home. A private burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

Lydia Koffler

A private celebration of life is planned for Monday, July 2, for Lydia Koffler of Eugene, who died June 27 of age-related causes. She was 87.

She was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Versitell, Saskatchewan, to John and Katerine Iltz Dederer. She married John M. Koffler. He died April 9, 2001.

She was a licensed practical nurse and homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Kathy Weiner of West Lake, Calif., Karen Smith of Elmira, Calif., and Pam Parmenter of Eugene; a brother, Alexander Dederer of Bend; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A granddaughter, Lisa Flormoe, died previously.

Elsie Osborne

SPRINGFIELD - A gathering will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Briarwood Assisted Living in Springfield for Elsie "Ozzie" Osborne of Springfield, who died June 26 of age-related causes. She was 87.

She was born July 7, 1917, in North Liberty, Ind., to Ellis and Amelia Wagner Hunt. She married Robert Osborne in South Bend, Ind. They were married for 50 years before he died.

She studied for two years at St. Mary College in South Bend, Ind. She was a beauty instructor at Springfield College of Beauty.

Survivors include a son, Robert Osborne of St. Charlie, Mich.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Arrangements by Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield.

Tonya Scott

Tonya Rene Scott of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., formerly of the Eugene-Springfield area, died June 22 in a traffic accident at age 43. A memorial service was held June 27 at Leitz-Fraze Funeral Home in Lake Havasu City.

She was born Sept. 4, 1963, in San Bernardino, Calif., to Bill and Sue McComas. She married Glenn Scott on Sept. 6, 1980, in Las Vegas.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, her parents, two daughters, Shannon Copple of Eugene and Shelby Scott of Lake Havasu City; a son, Glennie of Springfield; three brothers, Troy McComas of Lake Havasu City, Timmy McComas of Kingman, Ariz., and Tyson McComas of Coalinga, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Remembrances to Wells Fargo Bank in Lake Havasu City.

John Thomas

COTTAGE GROVE - A visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove for John Charles Thomas of Cottage Grove, who died June 29 of age-related causes. He was 80.

He was born Dec. 29, 1926, in Corvallis, to Charles and Emma Thomas. He married Jean Gray on June 15, 1947, in Corvallis.

He served in the Marine Corps from 1944 to 1946. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1951 with a bachelor's degree in business with a minor in floriculture.

He was a division sales manager for Ralston Purina Co. until 1981, then took a job at Cenex for six years.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Dr. Mark Thomas of Cottage Grove, Scott Thomas of Hines, Ore., and Todd Thomas of Newberg, Ore.; a sister, Catherine Smith of Newburyport, Mass.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A grandson, Glen Thomas, died previously.

Contributions to Greenhill Humane Society. Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.

Dora Wood

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at Riviera Baptist Church in Eugene for Dora M. "Granny" Wood of Eugene, who died June 28 of age-related causes. She was 91.

She was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Bonham, Texas, to Harry W. and Della Sudderth Lasater. She married Jack Wood on Dec. 23, 1937, in Clovis, N.M. He died Aug. 8, 1998.

She was a receptionist for International Paper Co. for 18 years before retiring in 1978.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Alexander of Veneta; a son, Bill Wood of Sherwood; a partner, Clarence Storey; a brother, Tye Lasater of Lubbock, Texas; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A private burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens. Contributions to Sacred Heart Hospice. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, Eugene.
