Byline: The Register-Guard

Virginia Barnett

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home for Virginia G. Barnett of Springfield, who died June 4 of age-related causes at age 85.

She was born July 1, 1921, in Eureka Springs, Ark., to Frank and Sylvia Larue Plouch. She married Clabern Barnett on May 17, 1941, in Benton, Ark.

She was a homemaker.

Survivors include a son, Fred of Eugene; two daughters, Sandy Stinnett and Sylvia Lavender, both of Springfield; a brother, Robert Plouch of Cabot, Ark.; a sister, Dorothy Dorsey of Little Rock, Ark.; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1981 and a granddaughter, Tracy Wilde, died May 30, 1973.

Burial will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens.

William Bevel

A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10, at 2146 Lorane Highway, Eugene, for William Rick "Bill" Bevel of Eugene. He died June 2 of a heart attack at age 57.

He was born Sept. 4, 1949, in Eugene to Floyd and Gail Roach Bevel. He married Dian Pierson on Aug. 17, 1980, in Lake Tahoe, Nev.

Bevel graduated from North Eugene High School in 1969 and served in the Marine Corps. He worked as a machinist for Myrmo & Sons Inc.

Survivors include his wife; and three sisters, Linda VanDeerender, Sheila Dannen and Betty Hileman.

Arrangements by Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield.

David Carter

SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at the Carter home in Springfield for David Kenneth Carter of Springfield. He died June 4 of cancer at age 63.

He was born Nov. 6, 1943, in Portland to Alvin and Shirley Helm Carter. He married Anita Nixon in 1970 in Reno, Nev.

Carter graduated from Benson Polytechnic High School in Portland in 1961. He served in the military during the Vietnam War. He worked as an equipment operator for Springfield Utility Board.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Eugene and Bryan of Lehi, Utah; two daughters, Eliza Carter of Springfield and Lora Athitan; four brothers, Robert, Roger and Tommy, all of Portland, and Jimmy of Newberg; and a sister, Joyce Weeks of Newberg.

Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

Elsie Glasgow

SPRINGFIELD - The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Twin Oaks Memorial Gardens in Albany for Elsie Marie Glasgow of Springfield, who died June 4 of a heart attack at age 99. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, June 7, at Aasum Funeral Chapel in Albany.

She was born Nov. 2, 1907, in Palco, Kan., to William and Louise Zertis Spreen. She married Floyd Glasgow in 1954 in Grants Pass. She retired from Stokely Van Camp in Albany in 1973.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Strauser of Springfield and Carol Kutsch of La Pine; a sister, Lydia Farris of Salem; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Her husband and a great-great-grandchild, Christina Marie, died previously.

Donald Libby

Donald M. Libby of Eugene died June 4 at age 95 of age-related causes.

He was born May 2, 1912, in Ewing, Neb. He married Wilma Martindale on Dec. 22, 1939.

Libby served in the Navy. He worked for Shell Oil Co. from 1948 to 1973.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Donald of McMinnville, Robert of Eugene and Larry of Bend; eight grandchildren and eight great-grand- children.

A memorial service is planned for later. Arrangements by West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene.

Aviva Sainz

The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene for Aviva Sainz of Eugene. She died June 5 of age-related causes at age 81.

She was born March 17, 1926, in New York City to Herman and Miriam Linevsky Frank.

Sainz graduated from Hunter College and worked as a high school teacher in the New York City school district. She was a semi-professional opera singer with Amato Opera in New York City.

Survivors include a daughter, Elena Sainz of Ventura, Calif.; a son, Daniel of McLean, Va.; and three grandchildren.

Arrangements by England's Eugene Memorial Chapel. Remembrances to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Clarification

An obituary that ran in Wednesday's Register-Guard regarding the death of Sharon Lamont of Eugene contained an error. Her ex-husband, George Lamont, is not deceased.
