Janice Tompkins

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Janice Yvonne Tompkins of Eugene, who died Feb. 21 of complications of cancer at age 70.

She was born Sept. 1, 1936, in Benton, Iowa Benton is a city in Ringgold County, Iowa, United States. The population was 40 at the 2000 census. Geography

, to Dale and Ilah Bennett Baker. She married Floyd Tompkins on Feb. 10, 1956 in Corvallis.

She worked as a bookkeeper for Midas Muffler muffler, in automobiles, device designed to reduce the noise from the exhaust of an internal-combustion engine. When the exhaust gases from an internal-combustion engine are released directly into the atmosphere, they create a loud noise, caused by the passage of the .

Survivors include her husband; a son, Ken of Eugene; a daughter, Karen Buckingham of Eugene; two sisters, Myrna Foster of Connell, Wash., and Patty Stutz of Monmouth; a brother, Clifford Baker of Oakridge; and two grand- children.

Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park.

COTTAGE GROVE Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  - Richard E. Baker of Cottage Grove died Feb. 22 of causes related to diabetes at age 72. A private service was held.

He was born Jan. 18, 1935, in Quincy, Ill., to Kenneth and Jessie Bean Baker. He married Sandra Chisholm on Dec. 24, 1963, in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. It is the largest city in Nevada and the center of one of the fastest-growing urban areas in the United States. .

Baker served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956, primarily in France and Germany. He worked as a painter and paper hanger paper hanger n. slang for a person who criminally writes and cashes "bad" checks on accounts he/she either does not have or which have no money in them. (See: fraud, forgery) , and later was a project engineer for the Kimwood Corp. for 20 years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth of Dundee and Richard Jr. of Bayport, N.Y.; a daughter, Jeanne of Cottage Grove; a brother, Jim of Beaverton; and six grand- children.

Frank Davis Frank Davis (born August 22, 1981 in New York, New York) is an American football offensive guard in the National Football League. Davis played college football for the University of South Florida.

Christine Halverson-Johnson

SPRINGFIELD - Christine G. Halverson-Johnson of Springfield died Feb. 18 at age 39. The family chose not to list the cause of death.

She was born Aug. 25, 1967, in Eugene to Oscar and Betty Reece Halver- son.

Halverson-Johnson served in the Navy for two years and the Navy Reserve for five years. She worked as a certified nursing assistant This article or section may deal primarily with the U.S. and may not present a worldwide view.  in private nursing.

Survivors include her mother, Betty Halverson of Eugene; a daughter, Elizabeth Johnson of Eugene; and a sister, Randi Byrd of Tacoma.

Pulmonary fibrosis develops when the alveoli, tiny air sacs that transfer oxygen to the blood, become damaged and inflamed.

Walchli was born Aug. 17, 1936, in England to Emil and Doris Applebee Walchli.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Jacqui Weaver of Elmira; a son, Paul of Monterey, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Lynn Dodge

COTTAGE GROVE - Lynn Foster Dodge of Cottage Grove died Feb. 19 of age-related causes at age 83.

He was born July 1, 1923, in Palermo, N.D., to Ray and Bergetta Nelson Dodge. He married Edna Elliott on Nov. 22, 1946, in Omak, Wash. She died April 19, 1995.

Dodge served in the Navy during World War II. He worked as a long-haul truck driver for Weyerhaeuser until his retirement in 1985.

Survivors include four sons, Ron Elliott of Tahlequah, Okla., Charles Dodge of Cottage Grove, Rex Dodge of Oregon City and Dean Dodge of Portland; three daughters, Deanna Wareham of Leeton, Mo., Claire Queener of Cottage Grove and Janice Dodge of Boise; a sister, Claire Bunker of Centralia, Wash.; a brother, Rod of Yuma, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Two grandsons, Bryan Dodge and Lynn Labaree, died previously.

COTTAGE GROVE - A memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 4 in the community room at Eugene Water & Electric Board for Roselle Clara "Dell" Klinko of Cottage Grove. She died Feb. 17 of emphysema emphysema (ĕmfĭsē`mə), pathological or physiological enlargement or overdistention of the air sacs of the lungs. A major cause of pulmonary insufficiency in chronic cigarette smokers, emphysema is a progressive disease that commonly  at age 74.

She was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Buffalo, N.Y., to Robert and Loretta Schulz Gruber. She married Edward Klinko on Feb. 23, 1968, in Sunnyvale, Calif.

She worked as a registered nurse for 50 years at hospitals and retirement homes in Cottage Grove, Eugene and Portland.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Eric of Eugene; a daughter, Kathleen Holder of Cottage Grove; and seven grandchildren.

Ted Pulliam

A gathering will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 18 at Paesano's Cedarville Park, 3800 W. Powell Loop in Gresham for Ted W. Pulliam of Happy Valley, formerly of the Springfield area. He died Feb. 21 of brain cancer at age 56.

Pulliam was born Oct. 15, 1950, in Boise to Stanley and Agnes Menke Pulliam. He married Adele Olsen on Dec. 19, 1974, in Reno, Nev.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War Vietnam War, conflict in Southeast Asia, primarily fought in South Vietnam between government forces aided by the United States and guerrilla forces aided by North Vietnam. . He worked as a water well contractor with WW Well Drilling in Springfield and owned Olsen-Pulliam Well Drilling and Pump in Boring.

Survivors include his wife; his parents, of Springfield; two sons, Travis Croonquist of Portland and Tyson Croonquist of Damascus; a brother, Tony of Boring; two sisters, Connie Nichols of Creswell and Nancy Barnes of Jasper; and five grandchildren.

Arrangements by Bateman-Carroll Funeral Home in Gresham. Remembrances to the Oregon Ground Water Association Scholarship Fund in Keizer or to H.O.R.S.E.S. Ltd. in Scotts Mills.

Evelyn Weis

Evelyn E. Weis of Eugene died Feb. 15 of age-related causes at age 97. No service is planned.

Weis was born June 5, 1909, in Marshfield, Wis., to Fred and Mary Poppy Becker. She worked as a seamstress at Marshfield Glove, White Stag and Crumwall Taylor. She married Bill Weis on Oct. 21, 1982, in Stratford, Wis. He died previously.

Survivors include two sons, Duaine Houston of Eugene and Dale Houston of Condon; two stepdaughters, Lois Jones of Nehalem and Donna Gamble of Toppenish, Wash.; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grand-children and three great- great-grandchildren.

Douglas Wright

Douglas Wright of San Diego, formerly of the Lane County area, died Feb. 2 of cancer at age 53.

He was born April 4, 1953, in Detroit, Mich., to Robert and Barbara Stroda Wright.

He served in the Army Rangers as a paratrooper, stationed in Italy with international peacekeeping forces. He worked as a ship fitter.

Survivors include his mother; a daughter, April of San Diego; and three brothers, Gregory and Bill, both of Monroe, and Scott of Eugene.

Karen Stein

Karen Evon Stein of Eugene died Feb. 21 of cancer at age 67. No service is planned.

She was born Sept. 6, 1939, in Minneapolis to Anders and Gudrun Schau. She married Sam Stein in Newport Beach, Calif., and they later divorced.

She worked as a private accountant.

She is survived by a daughter, Jaime Johnston of Springfield.
