OBITUARIES.Byline: The Register-Guard Minerva Veness Minerva Evelyn Veness of Eugene, formerly of Veneta, died Nov. 5 of heart failure at 93. No service is planned. She was born April 1, 1913, in Red Bluff, Calif., to John and Sarah Barber Akers. She married Crafton Carrol, and he later died. She later married Robert "Bob" Veness. She had worked in restaurants and operated a naturopathic and chiropractic chiropractic (kīrəprăk`tĭk) [Gr.,=doing by hand], medical practice based on the theory that all disease results from a disruption of the functions of the nerves. clinic in Veneta with her husband Crafton Carrol. She later owned and operated a cable television company in Veneta with her husband, Robert Veness, until retirement. Ullman had worked as a traffic engineer for TCI (Trustworthy Computing Initiative) An umbrella term from Microsoft for its efforts to improve security in Windows. TCI was announced in 2002 after viruses such as Code Red and Nimda had succeeded in attacking numerous Windows computers. Cable. John Gustafson John 'Gus' Gustafson (born 8 August 1943, in Liverpool, Lancashire, England) is a bass guitar player who has been a part of various notable rock bands. He served in the Navy during World War II in Europe and Guantanamo Bay Noun 1. John Soreng John Edgar John Edgar (ca 1750 - 1832) was an Illinois pioneer and politician. He was born in Ireland. In 1776, he was the commander of a British ship in the Great Lakes. He resigned from the British Navy rather than fight against the Americans. Edgar settled at Fort Kaskaskia in 1784. Franklin Soreng of Eugene died Nov. 15 of age-related causes at age 81. A private family gathering is planned. He was born Feb. 26, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., to Edgar and Mary Hess Soreng. He married Betty Lind on July 26, 1951, in Evanston, Ill. Soreng served in the Navy at Moffett Field, Calif., for 3 1/2 years during World War II as a radio operator in "lighter-than-air" aircraft. He was co-owner of and a designer and inventor for INDAK Manufacturing Corp., eventually making mechanical parts for the automotive industry The automotive industry is the industry involved in the design, development, manufacture, marketing, and sale of motor vehicles. In 2006, more than 69 million motor vehicles, including cars and commercial vehicles were produced worldwide. . He later was founder and president of Product Services Co. in Eugene, making metal stampings for the electronics and computer industries. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert of Chevy Chase Chevy Chase (chĕv`ē), town (1990 pop. 8,559), Montgomery co., W central Md., a residential suburb of Washington, D.C.; founded as a village, inc. 1914. , Md.; a daughter, Andrea Lee Soreng of Eugene; and three grandchildren. Doris Palmer VENETA - A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at St. John the Divine Episcopal Church for Doris L. Palmer of Veneta, who died Nov. 14 of age-related causes at age 96. Palmer was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Oshkosh, Wis. She married Harry Palmer in Portland. He died in 1986. She had worked as a bookkeeper at Tillamook Hospital and Lincoln City Hospital. Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Fenner of Springfield, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Arrangements by Alpha Cremation Services in Eugene. Mahlon Hamilton SPRINGFIELD - Mahlon F. Hamilton of Springfield died Nov. 15 of congestive heart failure congestive heart failure, inability of the heart to expel sufficient blood to keep pace with the metabolic demands of the body. In the healthy individual the heart can tolerate large increases of workload for a considerable length of time. at age 74. No service is planned. He was born July 11, 1932, in Clinton, Okla., to Nihl and Marguerite Browder Hamilton. Hamilton had served in the Naval Reserve. He worked as a truck driver. Survivors include two sons, Mark Hamilton of Estacada and Gary Crawford of Oakland, Calif.; a daughter, Nila Hamilton of Portland; and two grandchildren. Steve Marsh A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19, at T&A Supply Company at 191 Seneca St. for Steve "Swam- py" Marsh of Eugene. He died Nov. 1 of heart failure at age 60. He was born June 15, 1946, in Port Angeles, Wash. He married Linda Marsh in October 1966 and they later divorced. Marsh worked at T&A Supply Company. Survivors include a daughter, Sherry Ritchardson of Washington; a son, Vetala Hawkins, also of Washington; and a brother, Paul Marsh of Port Angeles. Arrangements by Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene. Jerome Boulware Jerome Boulware of Eugene died Nov. 15 at age 48. The family chose not to list the cause of death. He was born Nov. 23, 1957, to Irvin and Esther Spalding Boulware. Boulware was a computer programmer and worked in marketing and research.
