 in Eugene for Michele Katharine La Roche, 50, of Springfield, who died Sept. 21. The family declined to list the cause of death.

She was born Dec. 8, 1955, in Torrence, Calif., to Eugene and Katharine Stingfellow La Mont. She married Frank La Roche in Eugene on Feb. 15, 1975. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jake of Austin, Texas, and Dustin of Eugene; two daughters, Julianne La Roche of Taylorsville, Utah Taylorsville is a city in Salt Lake County, Utah, United States. The population was 57,439 at the 2000 census. Its estimated population in 2007 stood at 60,100. Taylorsville was incorporated from the Taylorsville-Bennion CDP and portions of the Kearns CDP on April 24, 1996. , and Darlene La Roche of Springfield; a brother, Terry La Mont of La Grande; and a sister, Penny Havens of Sacramento.

A gathering will be at 2 p.m. before the 2:30 p.m. service. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary, Eugene.

Joann Howe

Joann "Jody" Howe, 72, of Tucson, Ariz., formerly of Lane County, died Aug. 30 of leukemia leukemia (lkē`mēə), cancerous disorder of the blood-forming tissues (bone marrow, lymphatics, liver, spleen) characterized by excessive production of immature or mature .

She was born May 26, 1934, in Ordway, Colo., to James and Pearl Jones Brown. She married Harry Howe on April 3, 1954, in Lordsburg, N.M. She was a cashier and cannery worker. She lived in the local area for 12 years.

Hazel Dayton

Hazel "Jean" Dayton, 90, of Portland, formerly of Eugene and Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, , died Sept. 18.

She was born Nov. 18, 1915, in Lougheed, Alberta Lougheed is a village in central Alberta, Canada. It is located 94 km south-east of Camrose, along Highway 13. Demographics
In 2006, Lougheed had a population of 217 living in 112 dwellings, a 4.8% decrease from 2001.
, Canada. She married Frank Dayton in Portland in 1949. He died in 1985. The couple lived in Eugene in the early 1950s, until they bought the Lane Hotel in Junction City. They moved from the area in 1975.

Survivors include two sons, Stuart and Thad, and five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Rupert Sallila

COTTAGE GROVE Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  - A family gathering will be held in Minnesota for Rupert Melvin Sallila, 90, of Cottage Grove, who died Sept. 2 of age-related causes.

He was born April 5, 1916, in Hibbing, Minn., to Adolph and Marie Rosnell Sallila. He married Dorthea Virginia Kent in Virginia City Virginia City, uninc. village (1990 pop. 920), seat of Storey co., W Nev.; settled 1859. Now largely a tourist center, it was the site of the Comstock Lode and a major hub for the mining of silver and gold. It had some 11,000 inhabitants in 1880. , Nev., on April 23, 1974. She died Oct. 15, 2004.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and in the Merchant Marines. He was a mail carrier.

Survivors include two sisters, Irene Hannula of Clatskanie and Bernice Stimac of Mt. Iron, Minn.; and a brother, Elmer "Al" of Everett, Wash.

Ernest Hunt

DRAIN - Ernest Hunt, 85, of Drain, died Sept. 12 of age-related causes.

He was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Minnesota to Roland and Beatrice Hunt. He married Mary Marks on July 21, 1945. He served in the Air Force during World War II, became a pilot, worked as a logger and operated Tom Thumb Tom Thumb, 1838–83, American entertainer, whose original name was Charles Sherwood Stratton, b. Bridgeport, Conn. His career as General Tom Thumb began in 1842, when the showman P. T.  Raceway in Springfield for seven years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert of Mt. Shasta, Calif., and Ron of Yoncalla; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty Waterman

A family gathering will be held for Betty C. Waterman, 77, of Eugene, who died Sept. 8 from age-related causes.

She was born Jan. 1, 1929, in Yavapai, Ariz., to Grover and Maude Sterling Sharp. She married Kenneth Waterman, who died in 1997. She was a homemaker and worked as a telephone operator.

Survivors include a son, Mark, and a daughter, Catherine McLaren, both of Eugene, and one grandchild.
