Joe Estes

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Willamette Christian Center in Eugene for Joe F. Estes of Springfield, who died June 16 of pancreatic cancer pancreatic cancer

Malignant tumour of the pancreas. Risk factors include smoking, a diet high in fat, exposure to certain industrial products, and diseases such as diabetes and chronic pancreatitis. Pancreatic cancer is more common in men.

He was born May 17, 1949, in Eugene to Joe and Virgie Young Estes. He married Janice Hughes on May 22, 1971, in Springfield.

Estes served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970, completing two tours in Vietnam. He retired after 30 years as district chief of the Eugene Fire Department and was the owner of McKenzie River For rivers name "Mackenzie", see .
The McKenzie River is a tributary of the Willamette River, 86 miles (138 km) long, in northwestern Oregon in the United States. It drains part of the Cascade Range east of Eugene into the southernmost end of the Willamette Valley.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Benjamin of Milwaukee, Wis., and Matthew of Springfield; and three siblings, Linda Lusby of Vida, Gay Harris of Highlands Ranch, Colo., and Jim Estes of Springfield.

Rufus Bowman

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Trinity United Methodist Church United Methodist Church, in the United States, religious body formed by the union in 1968 of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Methodist Church (see Methodism).  in Eugene for Rufus A. "Al" Bowman of Eugene, who died June 15 of a heart attack. He was 64.

He was born Dec. 21, 1941, in Malakoff, Texas Malakoff is a city in Henderson County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,257 at the 2000 census. The community is named after a Russian city. History

, to Rufus and Lockie Bowman. He and his wife, Helen, married on Dec. 2, 1961, in Franklin. Bowman was self-employed at Advanced Transmission Service.

Survivors include three sons, Mark, Brian and Steven, all of Eugene; a sister, Joyce of Texas; a brother, Robert of Iowa; and seven grandchildren.

Jeanne Stalick

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 23, at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene for Jeanne Carenen Stalick of Eugene, who died June 18 of a stroke. She was 85.

She was born April 2, 1921, in Portland to Charles and Dorothy Twonhovel Carenen. She married Henry Stalick on July 19, 1941, in Longview, Wash.

During World War II, she was a WAC WAC (Women's Army Corps), U.S. army organization created (1942) during World War II to enlist women as auxiliaries for noncombatant duty in the U.S. army. Before 1943 it was known as the Women's Auxiliary Army Corps (WAAC). Its first director was Oveta Culp Hobby.  assigned to the U.S. Army Air Corps in England. She taught English and literature in California.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, David and Henry, both of Eugene; two daughters, Margaret Sanders of Winter Park, Fla., and Elizabeth Meisenheimer of Springfield; a sister, Elaine Christensen of Metairie, La.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Ralph Gossett

SPRINGFIELD - Ralph W. Gossett of Springfield died June 16 of cancer at age 78.

He was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Monroe, La., to Alvis and Mary Price Mary Wolfe Price was an American citizen and secretary to journalist Walter Lippmann of the New York Herald. Sometime prior to March of 1941, Mary Price allegedly agreed to furnish Jacob Golos, controller of the secret apparatus of the Communist Party of the USA (CPUSA) on behalf  Gossett. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and worked as a painting contractor.

Survivors include three daughters, Denise McGowen and Vickie Forman of Monroe, La., and Iona Kline of Springfield; a stepdaughter step·daugh·ter

Billy Taylor

A celebration of life will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at 84680 Sarvis Berry Lane in Eugene for Billy Joe "Bill" Taylor of Clarkston, Wash., formerly of Oakridge and Eugene. He died June 16 of leukemia at age 39.

He was born Jan. 6, 1967, in Arcata, Calif., to James Taylor and Patsy Ratliff.

He served in the Air Force from 1985 to 1989. He worked as a district purchaser for Rite-Aid for 10 years.

Survivors include his mother, Patsy Ratliff; a grandparent, Ressie Lynch; and two sisters, Loree Connolly of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Shayna Proctor of Portland.

Carol McWilliams

A memorial service will be held at noon Thursday, June 22, at Central Presbyterian Church Located on the northeast corner of Brazos and Bois d'Arc (now Eighth Street), Central Presbyterian Church in Austin Texas traces its roots to the organization of the first Presbyterian church in Austin on Sunday, October 13, 1839. That event, conducted by Rev.  in Eugene for Carol Evans McWilliams of Eugene, who died June 18 of a stroke. She was 83.

She was born Dec. 3, 1922, in Oklahoma City to James and Nell Rockey Evans.

She married William Johnson in May 1943 in Norman, Okla. He died in 1944. She married Jim McWilliams in September 1948 in Norman. He died in 1993. She worked as a choral director, Realtor, writer and inventor.

Survivors include three sons, Bruce MacWilliams of Noble, Okla., Scott MacWilliams of Eugene and Matthew MacWilliams of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Jeanna Jones of Waldoboro, Maine, and Sally Thorpe of Nevada, Mo.; a brother, Robert of Lawrence, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Inurnment will be at Fairlawn Memorial Cemetery, Oklahoma City. Arrangements by England's Eugene Memorial Chapel. Remembrances to Relief Nursery, First Place Family Center or the Oklahoma University Foundation.

Jackileen Johnson

The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Frisbie-Warren & Carroll Funeral Home in Stockton, Calif., for former Cottage Grove resident Jackileen Johnson of Stockton, Calif. She died June 15 of respiratory failure Respiratory Failure Definition

Respiratory failure is nearly any condition that affects breathing function or the lungs themselves and can result in failure of the lungs to function properly.
 at age 74.

She was born Sept. 19, 1931, in Crowley, Colo., to Jack and Alice Smythe Fox and grew up in Cottage Grove. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Norman Johnson; a son, Russ of Stockton; a daughter, Pat MacEwen of Stockton; two sisters, Jeraldine Demorest and Jenne Fox; two brothers, Victor Fox and Tom Fox; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
