Joe Estes

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held June 22 for Joe F. Estes of Springfield, who died June 16 of pancreatic cancer pancreatic cancer

Malignant tumour of the pancreas. Risk factors include smoking, a diet high in fat, exposure to certain industrial products, and diseases such as diabetes and chronic pancreatitis. Pancreatic cancer is more common in men.

He was born to Joe and Virgie Young Estes on May 17, 1949, in Eugene. He married Janice Hughes on May 22, 1971, in Springfield.

He retired after 30 years as district chief of the Eugene Fire Department. He was the owner of McKenzie River For rivers name "Mackenzie", see .
The McKenzie River is a tributary of the Willamette River, 86 miles (138 km) long, in northwestern Oregon in the United States. It drains part of the Cascade Range east of Eugene into the southernmost end of the Willamette Valley.
 Rafting Co. He served in the Army from 1967 to 1970, completing two tours in Vietnam.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Benjamin of Milwaukee, Wis., and Matthew of Springfield; and three siblings, Linda Lusby of Vida, Gay Harris of Highland Ranch, Colo., and Jim Estes of Springfield.

Thursday's service will be at 11 a.m. at Willamette Christian Center, 2500 W. 18th Ave. in Eugene. Arrangements by Andreason's Cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire.
