She was born June 21, 1958, in Palo Alto Palo Alto, city, California Palo Alto (păl`ō ăl`tō), city (1990 pop. 55,900), Santa Clara co., W Calif.; inc. 1894. Wertz of Cottage Grove, who died June 2 of cancer at age 78. She was born Oct. 6, 1927, in Sargent, Colo., to Ottis and Anna Wright Smith. She married John Wertz on March 13, 1970, in Reno, Nev. A former resident of Creswell, she lived in Lane County for 72 years. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Anna Dockery of Cottage Grove; a brother, Ottis Smith of Dorena; and a sister, Evelyn Smith of Cottage Grove. A son, Randy LaBlue, died previously.
