Roberta Hutchinson

SPRINGFIELD - Roberta G. Hutchinson of Springfield died Feb. 6 of cancer at age 88.

She was born April 23, 1918, in Portland to Joseph and Madge Carmony Walker. She married John Hutchinson John Hutchinson is the name of a number of notable people:
  • John Hutchinson (writer), (1674-1737) an English writer
  • John Hutchinson (Colonel), (1615-64) a leader in the 17th century Puritan revolt in Britain
 on March 27, 1943, in Eugene. He died previous- ly.

She worked as a teacher at Creswell High School.

Survivors include five daughters, April Hogan and Eileen Compton, both of Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, , Christiana Freeman and Molly Ingram, both of Springfield and Jeanne Brietsman of Utah; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. A son, James, died previously.

Burial was in Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Arrangements by Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. The number of children's hospitals proliferated in the 20th century, as pediatric medical and surgical specialties separated from internal medicine and adult surgical specialties. .

Howard Hunt

Howard E. Hunt of Eugene died Feb. 13 of age-related causes at age 88. No service is planned.

He was born Aug. 25, 1918, in Nelson, B.C., to Earl and Lulu Gilbert Hunt. He married Ada Cudney on Sept. 12, 1941, in Wooster, Ohio. She died Nov. 1, 1992.

He had worked for Weyerhaeuser in the Pacific Northwest and General Electric in New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
.

Survivors include two sons, Roger of Brown's Point, Wash., and Geoffrey of Bellevue, Wash.; and four grandchildren. A daughter, Elizabeth Ann, died in 1974.

Beverley Collard collard

Headless form of cabbage (Brassica oleracea, Acephala group), in the mustard family. It bears the same botanical name as kale, differing only in that collard leaves are much broader, are not frilled, and resemble the rosette leaves of head cabbage.
 

Beverley Ann Collard of Eugene died Feb. 13 of age-related causes. She was 78.

She was born March 6, 1928, in Portland to Edgar and Henrietta Ireland Lubcke.

She worked in the U.S. State A U.S. state is any one of the fifty subnational entities of the United States, although four states use the official title "commonwealth". The separate state governments and the federal government share sovereignty, in that an American is a citizen both of the federal entity and  Department, foreign service, serving in the Philippines, Iran, Nicaragua and Mexico. She later worked as an administrative assistant for ROTC at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  for 20 years, retiring in 1994.

Survivors include two daughters, Susan York of Eugene and Kathryn Kuper of Spokane; and five grandchildren. A daughter, Kimberley Vickers, died Feb. 24, 2002.

No service is planned. Inurnment will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park in Eugene. Arrangements by Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene. Remembrances to Greenhill Humane Society.

Charles Burt

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 16, at Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield for Charles A. "Chuck" Burt of Springfield. He died Feb. 11 of age-related causes at age 78.

Burt was born Oct. 10, 1928. He married Edith Gafert.

He owned and operated two service stations in Springfield. He had served in the Marines, including service in World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Hans and Jeff, both of Springfield; and two grand- children.

David Noel Sr.

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, at Springfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3965 for David S. "Dave" Noel Sr. of Spring- field. He died Feb. 9 of respiratory failure Respiratory Failure Definition

Respiratory failure is nearly any condition that affects breathing function or the lungs themselves and can result in failure of the lungs to function properly.
 at age 64.

Noel was born May 1, 1942, in Canada to Joseph and Violet Searle Noel. He married Helen Stevenson on Aug. 24, 1989, in Springfield.

He served in the Army for 11 years and worked as a prep cook.

Survivors include his wife; a son, David Jr. of Aberdeen, Wash.; three daughters, Grace Magin of Puyallup, Wash., O. Rene Sheppard of Bristol, Tenn., and Esther Baxter of Tacoma; a stepdaughter step·daugh·ter

Dennis Alford

VENETA - Dennis G. "Gary" Alford of Veneta died Feb. 3 of complications of diabetes at age 41. No service is planned.

He was born July 25, 1965, in Reno, Nev.

Survivors include his mother, Vickie Alford, and a sister, Kelly Alford of Portland.

Virginia Westerfield

Virginia R. Westerfield of Eugene died Feb. 13 of congestive heart failure congestive heart failure, inability of the heart to expel sufficient blood to keep pace with the metabolic demands of the body. In the healthy individual the heart can tolerate large increases of workload for a considerable length of time.  at age 87.

She was born March 21, 1919, Ashland to Steven and Elnora Beagle Whipple. She married Richard Westerfield on June 21, 1948, in Ashland. He died Nov. 11, 1985.

She worked as a music teacher in Medford public schools and, after retiring, continued to play in several music groups.

She is survived by a daughter, Nona Westerfield of Eugene.

A memorial service will be later in Ashland. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to the Oregon Heart Association.
