Byline: The Register-Guard

Jack Barrowcliff

SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Marcola Christian Church for Jack Orlo Barrowcliff of Springfield, who died Nov. 29 of age-related causes at age 90. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

He was born March 19, 1916, in Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  to John and Metta Kilbourn Barrowcliff. He married Lucille Millett on April 3, 1937, in Eugene. She died March 8, 1959.

Barrowcliff had worked as a heavy equipment operator and rancher, and in timber management.

Survivors include four sons, Richard of Springfield and Ronald, Jack and James, all of Marcola; a brother, Elvin of Homer, Alaska Homer is a town located in Kenai Peninsula Borough in the U.S. state of Alaska. According to 2005 Census Bureau estimates, the population was 5,364.[0] Geography
Homer is located at 59°38'35" North, 151°31'33" West (59.643059, -151.
; a sister, Hazel Dieckgraeff; eight grandchildren GRANDCHILDREN, domestic relations. The children of one's children. Sometimes these may claim bequests given in a will to children, though in general they can make no such claim. 6 Co. 16.  and six great-grand- children.

Private entombment will be at Rest-Haven Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene. Memorials to Cascade Hospice in lieu of flowers. Arrangements by Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield.

Dick Tanner

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Berean Assembly of God in Eugene for Richard Irving Tanner of Eugene, who died Dec. 1 of cancer. He was 76.

He was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Camas, Wash., to Stanton and Blanche Rucker Tanner. He and his wife, Lois, were married Nov. 24, 1950, in Turner.

Tanner served two years in Army during the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation. , and worked 59 years as a logging equipment mechanic.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Katherine Riehl of Salem; a son, Michael, of Eugene; and one grandchild.

Burial will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Willamette National Cemetery Willamette National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery in Clackamas County, Oregon, about 10 miles southeast of the city of Portland, Oregon. It encompasses 269.4 acres, and as of the end of 2005, had 126,561 interments.  in Portland.

DeLores Nell

SPRINGFIELD - DeLores Mildred Nell of Springfield died Nov. 30 of cancer at age 80. A private family service is planned.

She was born Feb. 11, 1926, in Olympia, Wash., to Gus and Ruth Littlejohn Anderson. She married Robert Nell on May 9, 1946, in Tacoma, Wash.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Carey; two daughters, Chris Pina and Kathy Bridges; a sister, Virginia Raphael; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Frank Crawford Frank Crawford was a college football coach at Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Texas. In 1891, he (with Mike Murphy) coached the Michigan team to a 4-5 record; this was the first year the Michigan team had coaches. In 1892, he coached at Wisconsin, and compiled a 4-3 record.  

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at St. Paul St. Paul

as a missionary he fearlessly confronts the “perils of waters, of robbers, in the city, in the wilderness.” [N.T.: II Cor. 11:26]

 Catholic Church in Eugene for Francis Crawford of Eugene, who died Dec. 1 of age-related causes. He was 92.

He was born Nov. 16, 1914, in St. Paul, Minn., to Francis and Mary Zipinski Crawford. He married Helen Wilkie in May 1938, in Omaha, Neb.

He served in the Navy during World War II, and later worked as a heavy equipment salesman.

Survivors include a daughter, Eileen Hudak of Eugene; a son, Michael of Allen, Texas Allen is a city in Collin County and a northern suburb of Dallas, Texas (USA). As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 43,554. As of April 2007, the city's population is estimated at 77,465. ; two brothers, Joseph of San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  and Bill of Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Mary Hahn of Omaha, Neb.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

His wife, and a son, Kent, died previously.

Robert Hanks

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery).  Church of Christ for Robert D. Hanks of Gervais, formerly of the Lane County area. He died Nov. 21 of cancer at age 50.

He was born May 30, 1956, in Oceanside, Calif., to Linda Colvin Hickey and Robert Hanks. He married Marlene Ireland in 1977 and they divorced in 1994.

Hanks served in the Air Force from 1974 to his retirement in 1993. He worked for Infocus in Wilsonsville.

Survivors include his life partner, Linda Metteer; his mother, Linda Hickey of Cottage Grove; his father, of Arizona; a daughter, Alicia Cave of Springfield; a son, Ken of Lawrence, Kan.; two siblings, Stacy Campbell and Stephany Gabaldon, both of Cottage Grove; and one grandchild.
