OBITUARIES.Byline: The Register-Guard Brooke Beagle SPRINGFIELD - Brooke B. Beagle of Springfield died Sept. 11 of lung cancer lung cancer, cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States in both men and women. Like other cancers, lung cancer occurs after repeated insults to the genetic material of the cell. . He was 67. No service is planned. He was born Feb. 27, 1939, in Eugene to Orville and Vita Day Beagle. He married Sharon Barber on June 24, 1961, in Springfield. They later divorced. Beagle served in the U.S. Army from 1961 through 1963 and also spent two years in the reserves. He retired from Georgia-Pacific. Survivors include a son, Bryan of Sacramento; three sisters, Carlin car·line or car·lin n. Scots A woman, especially an old one. Peggy Matthews SPRINGFIELD - Peggy Matthews of Springfield died Sept. 13 of cancer at age 76. At her request, no service is planned. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home. Matthews was born July 30, 1930, in Fairbury, Neb., to Paul and Ethel Fletcher Kennedy. She married John Matthews on July 12, 1947, in Springfield. He died in February 1972. He was born Feb. 27, 1958, in Eugene to John and Connie Lewis Price. Price served in the Navy from 1983 to 1989. He worked as a truck driver.
