OBITUARIES.Byline: The Register-Guard Carol Mannlein SPRINGFIELD - The funeral Mass will be at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Eugene for Carol Mannlein of Springfield, who died Sept. 1 of lung cancer lung cancer, cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States in both men and women. Like other cancers, lung cancer occurs after repeated insults to the genetic material of the cell. at age 62. She was born Feb. 27, 1944, in Hermiston to Charles and Opal Geer. She married Gene Mannlein on Aug. 14, 1965, in Boise. She worked for 28 years at the Willamalane Park and Recreation District. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Lisa Moran of Milwaukie; and four sisters, three brothers and one grandchild. Arrangements by Andreason's Cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire. He was born Feb. 1, 1922, in Jersey City, N.J., to Samuel and Martha Gazuk Huck. He married Genevieve Margaret Hayes on April 12, 1947, in Methuen, Mass. He assembled communications equipment for Western Electric for 33 years. Survivors include his wife; a son, Anthony; a brother, Michael; and two sisters, Ann Wichowski and Mary Starzynski. A son, Michael, died on Nov. 16, 1990. A viewing will take place between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene.
