CRESWELL - A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. today, April 9, at Creswell Presbyterian Church for Gordon Edgar Bates of Creswell, who died April 6 of age-related causes at age 80. He was born Dec. 15, 1925, in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. to Edgar and Erma Ringer Bates. He married Mildred Mitchell in 1948 and they later divorced. He married Zelma Hartman in 1971 and she died in 1983. He had worked in logging and construction. Survivors include two sons, Michael and Edgar; three daughters, Erma Harrington, Jeannie Lewis Jeannie Lewis (born in 1945 in Australia, attended Sydney Girls High School[1] and studied at University of Sydney[5]) is a musician and stage performer whose work covers many different styles such as folk, jazz, Latin, blues, opera, rock, fusion and pushes and Debra Petersen; several stepchildren; four brothers, Vern, Art, Dale and Tim; four sisters, Dorothy Strawn, Donna Van Sickle, Doris Bates and Darlene Workman; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was born May 17, 1915, in Braddock, N.D., to Michael Feyereisen and Katherine Eilen Feyereisen. She married Floyd Henry in 1939. He died in 1958. She worked as a homemaker. Survivors include three sons, Richard, Harold and John; five daughters, Mavis Radcliff, Ione Coffin, Penelope Cash, Dorothy Cochran and Mary Louise Magnuson; a brother, Irvin Feyereisen; two sisters, Mary Feyereisen and Irene Sylvester; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was the first woman to hold the post of chancellor at a New Zealand university. of Eugene, who died April 7 of respiratory and heart failure at age 52. She was born Dec. 11, 1953, in Portland to LaVern and Carolyn Whiffin. She married Donald Herbison on Sept. 16, 1972, in Eugene. She worked as a customer service representative for an insurance company. Survivors include her husband; her stepmother, Rose Whiffin; a son, Douglas; a daughter, Carrie Godsey; seven sisters, LaRae Zabel, Sharon Whiffin, Wanda Mayer, Diane Whiffin, Linda Jones Linda Jones (born 14 January 1944, Newark, New Jersey - died 14 March 1972, Harlem) was an American soul singer.
