Helen Pratt

Helen E. Pratt of Eugene died Aug. 18 of age-related causes. She was 85.

Pratt was born Sept. 27, 1919, in Hardin, Mont., to Gerald and Laura Sparks Huffman.

She moved to Eugene in 1927 and graduated from University High School in 1937. Pratt had worked as a nursing home aide and caregiver. She enjoyed sports.

Survivors include two sons, R.J. Hoyman and William Hoyman, both of Eugene; and three grandchildren. A daughter, Ellen Schwarts, died previously.

No service is planned. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Violet Armstrong

SPRINGFIELD - Violet Constance "Connie" Armstrong of Springfield died Aug. 12 of respiratory failure Respiratory Failure Definition

Respiratory failure is nearly any condition that affects breathing function or the lungs themselves and can result in failure of the lungs to function properly.
. She was 71. A memorial service was held Aug. 16.

Armstrong was born July 13, 1934, in Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery). , to Noble and Violet Gunter Elliott.

A homemaker, she enjoyed spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God.

Survivors include five children, Dennis Hull Dennis "William" Hull (born November 19 1944 in Pointe Anne, (now part of Belleville, Ontario), Canada is a former professional ice hockey left wing. He is the brother of Bobby Hull and uncle of Brett Hull. , Brigit Deverell and Mark Hull, all of Springfield, Monty Hull of Cottage Grove and Sandy Plummer of Creswell; six brothers, David Elliott and Melvin Elliott, both of Creswell, Jim Elliott of Glide, Bill Elliott of Roseburg, Bob Elliott Bob Elliott can refer to different people:

  • Bob Elliott (baseball pitcher)
  • Bob Elliott (comedian) (born 1923)
  • Bob Elliott (real estate developer) (born 1969)
 of Jefferson, and Alfred Elliott of Washington; two sisters, Betty Huff of Florence and Forest McMurren of Alaska; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A grandchild, Amy Hull, died previously.

The service was held at Springfield Victory Tabernacle Tabernacle (tăb`ərnăk'əl), in the Bible, the portable holy place of the Hebrews during their desert wanderings. It was a tent, like the portable tent-shrines used by ancient Semites, set up in each camp; eventually it housed the Ark  Church of God. Andreason's Cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire. Harold Oelke Jr.

CRESWELL - Harold F. Oelke Jr. of Creswell died Aug. 15 of age-related causes. He was 76. A private service was held.

Oelke was born May 5, 1929, in Laguna Beach Laguna Beach (ləg`nə), city (1990 pop. 23,170), Orange co., S Calif., on the Pacific coast; founded 1887, inc. 1927. , Calif. He married Janet Beall on Aug. 26, 1949, in Newport Beach Newport Beach, residential and resort city (1990 pop. 66,643), Orange co., S Calif., on Newport Bay and the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1906. It is a popular seaside resort and yachting center. Manufactures include electrical and medical equipment, computers, boats, and adhesives. , Calif. She died July 24, 1988.

He had lived in Creswell for 40 years and previously lived in Eugene. He owned the Shop-Rite Market in Creswell. He enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time in Hawaii.

He belonged to the Creswell Kiwanis Club and Creswell Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two sons, Blake of Creswell and Kent of Brazil and Creswell; six grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

England's Creswell Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Creswell Presbyterian Church "Love Fund."

"Tony" Gagner

SPRINGFIELD - Francis W. "Tony" Gagner of Springfield died Aug. 16 of congestive heart failure congestive heart failure, inability of the heart to expel sufficient blood to keep pace with the metabolic demands of the body. In the healthy individual the heart can tolerate large increases of workload for a considerable length of time. . He was 83.

Gagner was born Feb. 22, 1922, in McKenzie, N.D., to Lewis and Grace Johnson Gagner. He married Viola Martz on Nov. 16, 1943, in Eugene. She died Aug. 26, 1998.

He attended schools in McKenzie, N.D., then worked at a Ford garage in Bismarck, N.D., until moving to Cottage Grove in 1940. He worked as a self-employed logger in Oregon, then as a timber faller for Weyerhaeuser in Cottage Grove. He lived in Cottage Grove until 1953, then settled in Springfield. He later was self-employed in a body and fender shop until he retired in 1982. He also had served in the Army.

 Cemetery Association and his family said he took great pride in cleaning and maintaining the cemetery. He also enjoyed repairing things, camping and fishing.

Survivors include four sons, John, Glenn and Jerry, all of Springfield, and Ken of Shepherdsville, Ky.; a daughter, Caroline Granger of Springfield; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

At his request, no service is planned. Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

William Heacock

A memorial service will be held Aug. 22 for William Edward William Alfred Edward (born June 19, 1916 in Glasgow) is a former Scottish cricketer.

Edward was an allrounder and played his club cricket with Clydesdale, scoring 3284 runs and taking 343 wickets.
 "Wild Bill" Heacock of Salem, formerly of Eugene, who died Aug. 15 of heart failure. He was 91.

Heacock was born Jan. 24, 1914, in Seattle, to Winfield and Florence Dubrente Heacock. He married Vonda Forster on March 15, 1942, in Tillamook.

He was a high school graduate and worked as a goldsmith for 65 years, designing, manufacturing and repairing jewelry. From 1945 to 1970, he lived in Eugene and worked for Skeie's Jewelers.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and travel. He was a Boy Scout leader A Scout Leader generally refers to the trained adult leader of a Scout unit. The terms used vary from country to country, over time, and with the type of unit. Roles

Monday's service will be at 2 p.m. at Capital Manor in West Salem. Howell-Edwards-Doerksen funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the health care fund at Capital Manor, 1955 Dallas Highway N.W., Salem, OR 97304.

Clarification

Lillian Dorothy "Lil" Fletcher, 83, of Springfield, died July 14. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at St. Mary Catholic Church. Among survivors is a daughter, Mary Celia Smith of Clearfield, Utah.
