LaVerne McPherson

COBURG - A memorial service will be held today, July 6, for LaVerne McPherson of Coburg, who died July 2 of cancer. He was 85.

McPherson was born March 9, 1920, in Springfield, to Seth and Stella McPherson. He married C. June Moore on July 10, 1941, in Springfield.

, he served in the Army in World War II. He had worked for Booth Kelly Lumber Co., Tillman Booth and Eoff Electric. He enjoyed trap shooting 1. (Sport) Shooting at pigeons liberated, or glass balls or clay pigeons sprung into the air, from a trap. , deep sea fishing, camping and farming.

He was a member of Norkenzie Christian Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7384. He was a member and worshipful master In Freemasonry, the presiding officer of a Craft or Blue Lodge is called the Worshipful Master, much as one would address a judge as "your honor." This office is most commonly attained by "going through the chairs", a process of advancing through a series of appointive and  of the Masonic Lodge and had received the lodge's Hiram Award.

Survivors include three children, Rick of Coburg, Nancy Bowers of Fort Rock and Ludell Ledgerwood of Greenville, S.C.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Today's service will be at 1 p.m. at Norkenzie Christian Church. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

William Bundrant

The funeral will be held July 12 for William Albert William Julian Albert (August 4, 1816–March 29, 1879) was a U.S. Congressman from the fifth district of Maryland, serving from 1873 to 1875.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Albert graduated from Mount St. Mary's College near Emmitsburg, Maryland in 1833.
 "Al" Bundrant of Eugene, who died July 4 of age-related causes. He was 86.

Bundrant was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Gatesville, Texas, to Robert and Ceary Woulard Bundrant. He married Margery "Mardi" Marr in 1940 in Oregon. She died Jan. 17, 1975. He married Vetus "Vee" Cole on July 23, 1977, in Eugene.

He attended schools in Texas and moved to Eugene in 1937. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946 and later was called up to serve in the Korean Conflict.

He worked as a mechanic for Eugene Fruit Growers for many years. When the cannery was unionized, he became the secretary, treasurer and business agent for union Local 670.

He enjoyed reading, computers, hunting, fishing, camping, photography and genealogy. His family said he had a strong Christian faith. He was a past president of the Eugene Veterans of Foreign Wars and a lifetime member of the Eugene Elks Lodge since 1937.

Survivors include his wife; a son, William of Lenexa, Kan.; a daughter, Susan Scharf of Arlington, Va.; a stepson step·son

Ralph Stewart

 funeral will be held July 8 for Ralph Joseph Stewart of Eugene, who died July 2 of heart failure. He was 68.

Stewart was born Sept. 28, 1936, in Chicago, Ill., to Nelson and Rose Pecic Stewart. He married Sandra Weddle on Oct. 9, 1957, in Springfield. She died Aug. 12, 1992.

He graduated from Springfield High School in 1954. He served in the Navy. He worked as a millwright mill·wright

Survivors include four daughters, Shelly Cadwalader of Eugene and Sharon Anitok, Marlene and Karla, all of Boise; a son, Ralph of Eugene; and eight grandchildren.

Friday's service will be at 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon Cemetery in Springfield. Buell Funeral Chapel in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Henrietta Nelson

The funeral will be July 9 for Henrietta Mae Nelson of Eugene, who died July 1 of cancer. She was 77.

She was born June 9, 1928, in Amity am·i·ty

She lived in Amity and Klamath Falls before moving to Eugene, where she had lived since 1947.

Nelson worked as a secretary at Byron Nelson Construction and as an administrative assistant at the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities.  Alumni Association.

Her interests included gardening, horses, reading and travel. She was a member of the Danebo Circle Eight Square Dance Club Square dance clubs are the primary form for organization within the recreational activity of square dancing, and more specifically modern Western square dance. This article's focus is the modern Western square dance club, and it is understood in the context of this article that , Women in Construction and the Eugene Elks Club.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Jim of Seattle; a sister, Opal Lahley of Amity; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene. Saturday's funeral will be at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.

Ida Dustrude

MARCOLA - A memorial service will be held July 9 for Ida Mary Dustrude of Marcola, who died July 2 of Alzheimer's disease Alzheimer's disease (ăls`hī'mərz, ôls–), degenerative disease of nerve cells in the cerebral cortex that leads to atrophy of the brain and senile dementia. . She was 83.

She was born Sept. 14, 1921, in Mansfield, Ark., to Clarence and Auda Claborn Garrison. She married Ray Dustrude on Oct. 8, 1945, in San Bruno, Calif.

She attended high school in Mansfield and was named salutatorian sa·lu·ta·to·ri·an

She worked as a bank teller for Bank of Hawaii Bank of Hawaii, a subsidiary of Bank of Hawaii Corporation (NYSE: BOH), is a regional commercial bank headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii. It is Hawaii's second oldest bank and its largest locally owned bank in that majority of the voting stockholders reside within the state.  in Pearl Harbor and retired as accounting supervisor for the city of Springfield in 1984. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, bowling, church activities and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of Marcola Christian Church, the Mohawk Grange and the Marcola School Board.

Survivors include her husband; a son, Steve of Springfield; a daughter, Ann Tung of Portland; two brothers, Reuben Garrison of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Clarence Garrison of Fresno, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Saturday's service will be at 2 p.m. at Marcola Christian Church. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements. Private burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Marcola Christian Church.

John Yates

The funeral will be held July 8 for John Thomas Yates of Eugene, who died July 4 of heart failure. He was 68.

Yates was born Aug. 19, 1936, in Cuervo, N.M., to Leonard and Ola Jones Yates. He married Katherine Coblentz on July 28, 1979, in Eugene.

He studied at Rocky Mountain College Rocky Mountain College (informal: Rocky or RMC), located in Billings, Montana, is a private comprehensive college offering more than 25 liberal arts- and professionally-oriented majors. In fall 2006, the college had 898 enrolled students.  in Montana and at Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885.  in Corvallis. He worked as a teacher at Cascade Middle and Willamette High schools and at the University of Oregon.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, coaching and scouting. He was a member of the National Education Associated.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven of Washington and Josh of the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma, Ariz.; a brother, Ralph of Salt Lake City; two sisters, Vada Metzenberg of Glendive, Mont., and Linda Warner of Hamilton, Mont.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene, followed by the funeral at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Eugene.

Michael Banks Sr.

The funeral will be held July 9 for Michael William Banks Sr. of Eugene, who died June 30 of hypoxia hypoxia

Banks was born March 28, 1960, in Eugene, to Frederick and Lois Bofferding Banks Jr. He married Roberta Allen on Feb. 14, 1982. They divorced in 1986.

He grew up in the River Road area and graduated from North Eugene High School North Eugene High School is a public high school of about 1,200 students in Eugene, Oregon, United States. It is located at 200 Silver Lane near the Santa Clara area of Eugene.[1] North Eugene's mascot is the Highlander.  in 1978. He attended Lane Community College. He had worked as a cashier at Bi-Mart on River Road and for The Community Market, Park Avenue Market, Domino's Pizza and Mac Industries in Springfield. He previously lived in Florence, Newport and Fair Oaks, Calif.

He belonged to St. Peter Catholic Church, where he was an active member of the folk music group.

 and his diligence as a single parent.

Survivors include a son, Michael Jr. of Eugene; his parents, of Eugene; a grandmother, Doris Frese of Eugene; two sisters, Doreen Vaughan and Barbara, both of Eugene; and his former wife.

A prayer vigil and viewing will be at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Peter Catholic Church. Saturday's Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at the church, followed by a celebration of life luncheon.

Private burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Lynn Hagues

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held July 9 for Lynn E. Hagues of Springfield, who died June 28 of complications following heart surgery. He was 45.

Hagues was born March 20, 1960, in Tacoma, to Gerald and Sandra Wheeler Hagues. He married Yolanda McCoy on Sept. 8, 1984, in Springfield.

He had lived in Springfield for 33 years and graduated from Thurston High School Thurston High School is located in Springfield, Oregon in Lane County. Their mascot is a black colt. Shooting
On May 20, 1998, student Kipland "Kip" Kinkel killed his parents, William and Faith, both Spanish teachers at local high schools.
 in Springfield in 1978. He was a deputy sheriff who had been with the Lane County Sheriff's Office since 1989. He belonged to the Lane County Peace Officers Association.

Hagues enjoyed being involved in his children's activities, bowling, gardening, reading and hunting. He coached junior league and Thurston High School bowling teams and belonged to the Oregon State Bowling Association.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Chad of Springfield; a daughter, Chessica of Springfield; his parents, of Springfield; and two sisters, Kristi Scales of Central Point and Cindy Morgan of Springfield.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Saturday's service will be at 11 a.m. at Eugene Christian Fellowship. Burial will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Teresa Hummel hummel

COTTAGE GROVE - Teresa "Terry" Hummel of Cottage Grove died July 5 of age-related causes. She was 89.

Hummel was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Sam and Jenny Katz. She married Leo Leo, in astronomy
Leo [Lat.,=the lion], northern constellation lying S of Ursa Major and on the ecliptic (apparent path of the sun through the heavens) between Cancer and Virgo; it is one of the constellations of the zodiac.
 Hummel on Nov. 27, 1938, in Brooklyn. He died in 1992.

She graduated from high school in Brooklyn in 1933. She was a homemaker, but also had worked as an automobile title agent. She retired from Dade County Automobile Association in Miami, Fla. She moved from Pembroke Pines, Fla., to Cottage Grove in 1997, and previously lived in Tucson, Ariz.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and playing cards.

Survivors include two sons, Howard of Cottage Grove and Mark of Woodbridge, Va.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A grandson, Jeffrey Hummel, died in 2002.

No service is planned. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove is in charge of arrangements.

Jeanette Bauman

OAKRIDGE - The graveside funeral will be held July 8 for Jeanette Elaine Bauman of Oakridge, who died July 1 of a gunshot wound. She was 56.

Bauman was born Oct. 16, 1948, in Salina Salina (səlī`nə), city (1990 pop. 42,303), seat of Saline co., central Kans., on the Smoky Hill River; founded 1858 by settlers opposed to slavery, inc. 1870. , Kan., to Alfred and Betty Williams Riffel. She married Dan Bontrager on June 4, 1967, in Hutchinson, Kan. He died in 1982. She married Dean Bauman in 1983, and they divorced in 1988.

She received a bachelor's degree in business from Montana State University Montana State University, at Bozeman; land-grant; coeducational; chartered 1893. It is primarily a technical institution specializing in agriculture, engineering, and applied sciences. The Museum of the Rockies is there. , Northern, in Havre, Mont., and a master's degree in education and curriculum and instruction from the University of Idaho The university was formed by the territorial legislature of Idaho on January 30, 1889, and opened its doors on October 3, 1892 with an initial class of 40 students. The first graduating class in 1896 contained two men and two women. . She had lived in Oakridge for three weeks and previously lived in Denver; Haven, Kan.; Power, Mont.; Havre; St., Regis, Mont.; and Long Beach, Wash.

She had worked as an administrative assistant for an engineering company in Great Falls, Mont. She was a business technology teacher at St. Regis High School Regis High School is the name of several Catholic secondary schools in the United States:
  • Regis High School (New York City) in New York City
  • Regis High School (Eau Claire, Wisconsin) in Eau Claire, Wisconsin
  • Regis High School (Oregon) in Stayton, Oregon
 for two years, then taught the same subject at Ilwaco High School for two years. She also had taught general equivalency diploma and adult education courses in St. Regis. She took student groups to Europe in the "People to People Ambassador" program while employed in St. Regis.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, travel, spending time at the ocean, golf and genealogy.

Survivors include two sons, Dan of West St. Paul West St. Paul can refer to:

  • West St. Paul, Minnesota
, Minn., and Gary of Townsend, Mont.; her parents, Betty and Bob Steele of Hutchinson, Kan.; and two grandchildren. Her domestic partner, Stevan Haugen, also died July 1.

Friday's service will be at 9:30 a.m. at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park & Cemetery in Hutchinson. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in South Hutchinson Mennonite Church, Hutchinson, and at 1 p.m. Monday at Zion Lutheran Church in Power, Mont. Poole-Larsen Funeral Home, Eugene, is in charge of arrangements.
