Pruitt was born Oct. 26, 1914, in North Dakota North Dakota, state in the N central United States. It is bordered by Minnesota, across the Red River of the North (E), South Dakota (S), Montana (W), and the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba (N). , to Christian and Mary Andersen Johnson. She married Edward William Pruitt Jr. on June 24, 1939, in Eugene. He died Dec. 22, 1983. She was a homemaker who enjoyed baking and various crafts, including drawing, painting, ceramics and sewing. She also enjoyed collecting thimbles and dolls. She formerly belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star The Order of the Eastern Star is the largest fraternal organization in the world that both men and women can join. It was established in 1850 by Rob Morris, a lawyer and educator from Boston, Massachusetts who had been an official with the Freemasons. and the Ninth Avenue Birthday Club. Gilbert Jahn A memorial service will be Dec. 6 and the burial service will be Dec. 7 for former Eugene resident Gilbert W. Jahn of Vancouver, Wash. Jahn died Nov. 30 of complications of pneumonia. He was 85. He was born June 21, 1919, in Sundown Township, Minn., to Walter and Frieda Mueller Jahn. He married Marie Thompson in 1938 in Springfield, Minn. She died April 13, 1998. Jahn served in the Army during World War II. He lived in Eugene until 1968, then moved to Vancouver. He was a long haul truck driver for Burch's Moving & Storage in Eugene and later for two companies in Vancouver. He enjoyed refurbishing leather horse collars and harnesses, golf, walking and feeding squirrels. He belonged to the American Legion American Legion, national association of male and female war veterans, founded (1919) in Paris. Membership is open to veterans of World Wars I and II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. , Smith-Reynolds Post 14 and Memorial Lutheran Church, both in Vancouver, Wash. Allen of Eugene died Nov. 28 of Alzheimer's Disease. She was 76. No service is planned. Allen was born April 6, 1928, in East McKeesport, Pa., to William Blair and Margaret Croushore Renshaw. She married Theo Allen in 1951 in East McKeesport. She received a bachelor of arts in piano performance from Westminster College in Pennsylvania in 1950. She belonged to the Oregon Music Teachers Association, the Dalcroze Society of America and the Unitarian Church. She authored the publications "Creative Keyboard for Adult Beginners," 1982 and "Blue Book: Kids at the Keyboard," 1990. Raymond Frosland The funeral will be held today, Dec. 4, for Raymond L. Frosland of Eugene, who died Nov. 29 of a stroke. He was 98. Frosland was born Jan. 18, 1906, in Berlin, N.D., to Matthew and Martha Frosland. He married Linnea Lundeen in 1927 in Racine, Wis. She died in 1946. He married Emily Wise in 1947 in Beaver Dam, Wis. She died in 1996. He married Grace Anderson in 1997 in Eugene. She died in 2002. Educated through the eighth grade, Frosland served in the Navy from 1922 to 1926 as a gunner's mate. He lived in Racine, Wis., and St. Ignace, Mich., before moving to Eugene in 1997. He had worked in machine repair for J.I. Case Manufacturing and Racine Hydraulic and was a foreman for 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, archery, photography and wood carving. He belonged to the First Church of the Nazarene Church of the Nazarene (năz'ərēn`), U.S. Protestant denomination established in 1908 through the union of the Church of the Nazarene, based in California; the Association of Pentecostal Churches, a New England group; and the Holiness and several camera clubs and gun clubs. Survivors include a son, Don Frosland of Eugene, six grandchildren, 13 great-grand-children and three great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Delores Busta, and a grandson, Dan Fox, died previously. Today's service will be held at 3 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene. Entombment will be in West Lawn Memorial Park. Hooton CRESWELL - Rhea Hooton of Creswell died Dec. 2 of age-related causes. She was 87. No services are planned. Hooton was born Jan. 16, 1917, in Vernal, Utah, to William and Minnie Gilman McKee. She married Eugene Hooton on Dec. 27, 1948, in Grants Pass. She graduated from high school in South Jordan, Utah South Jordan is a city in Salt Lake County in the U.S. state of Utah. The population was 29,437 at the 2000 census. As of September 1, 2007, the population was estimated at 50,109 [1]. South Jordan has been one of the fastest-growing cities in Utah since the early 1990s. . She was a cook and restaurant owner in Grants Pass and Cottage Grove. She enjoyed knitting, crossword puzzles and painting, and she belonged to a bridge club. Survivors include her husband; three brothers, Jack McKee, Glade McKee and Bob McKee, all of South Jordan; three sisters, Coy Yunker and Faye Gaykowski, both of South Jordan, and Mary Alice Baker of Salt Lake City. Odie Smith The graveside funeral will be held today, Dec. 4, for longtime Myrtle Creek resident Odie B. Smith of Eugene, who died Dec. 2 of age-related causes. She was 94. Smith was born March 1, 1910, in Maple Springs, Ark., to Jessie and Ella McLaughlin Waters. She married Amos Smith on April 16, 1928, in Maple Springs. He died March 23, 1976. A homemaker, she lived in Myrtle Creek for more than 50 years and in Eugene for about three years. She enjoyed babies and children, spending time with her family, reading, gardening and church activities.
