Leonard lived in Dexter and Springfield from 1955 to 1989. She attended Gards Business University in Kansas City, Mo., for two years. A homemaker, she enjoyed quilting quilting, form of needlework, almost always created by women, most of them anonymous, in which two layers of fabric on either side of an interlining (batting) are sewn together, usually with a pattern of back or running (quilting) stitches that hold the layers , gardening and reading the Bible. She belonged to Immanuel Baptist Church in Springfield. On her 100th birthday, she received a letter from President Bush. Survivors include three sons, Jimmy of Africa, Leland of Sun City, Ariz., and Chester of Rapid City, S.D.; three daughters, Lela Handran of Scobey, Mont., Barbara Ediger of Helena, Mont., and Cecile Posey, also of Sun City; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. He was born March 8, 1931, in McCloud, Calif., to Willis Atwood and Thirza Cooper Glidden. He married Margaret Stevens on April 18, 1954, in Klamath Falls. He attended schools in Canon City. He served in the Army for four years in World War II in field artillery in the South Pacific. He lived in Naperville, Ill., and worked as a furniture upholsterer at Kroehler Manufacturing Co. there for more than 30 years. He had lived in Springfield for 24 years. Yankovich enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, woodworking and fishing. He belonged to St. Alice Catholic Church.
