OBITUARIES.Byline: The Register-Guard Virgil Tharp SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be Nov. 30 for Virgil Alvin Tharp of Springfield, who died Nov. 23 of age-related causes. He was 90. He was born March 24, 1914, in Willamina to Alvin and Helen Lockhart Tharp. He married Amy Street in Dallas, Ore., on Oct. 25, 1934. Tharp lived in Willamina before moving to Springfield in 1960. He was employed as a truck foreman at Murphy Logging Co. for 47 years. He enjoyed hunting, crabbing, fishing, camping and spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart. The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God. with his family. He was a member of the Eagles and Elks. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Virgil "John" of Toledo and Timothy of Willamina; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Tuesday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield. A private burial will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Willamina Cemetery. Gale Piquet piquet or picquet (both: pēkā`), card game played by two persons with a deck of 32 cards—7 (low) up to ace (high) in each suit. Each player receives 12 cards, and eight cards are left on the table face down. A memorial service will be held Nov. 30 for Gale Edward Piquet of Eugene, who died Nov. 27 of age-related causes. He was 79. He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Eugene to Alfred and Freda Troxel Piquet. He married Maxine "Mickie" Smith in Eugene on May 19, 1946. Piquet graduated from Eugene High School in 1943. He served in the Merchant Marines and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked for U.S. Plywood for 17 years and retired from Northwest Vending in 1986. Piquet enjoyed traveling and camping. He was a member of Springfield Elks Lodge No. 2145. In 1991, he was a showcase winner on the television program, "The Price is Right." Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary of Eugene; a sister, Frances Bradshaw of Eugene; and two grandchildren. A son, Larry, died in 1999. Tuesday's service will be at 1 p.m. at Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Memorial contributions may be made to the Oregon Heart Association. Ross McConnell is an Irish Gaelic footballer who plays for Dublin and St Oliver Plunketts/Eoghan Ruadh. of Beaverton, formerly of Eugene, who died Nov. 26 of age-related causes. He was 86. He was born Aug. 7, 1918, in Pawnee, Colo., to George and Inez Moran McConnell. He married Lala Handley in 1939. McConnell moved to Portland in 1943 to work in the shipyards. He later worked for Gerber Food Co. for 32 years, in Portland and Eugene, before retiring in 1981. Survivors include his wife; a son, Douglas of Eugene; a daughter, Sharon Olberg of Sherwood; six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A great-grandson, Alexander Herauf, died previously. Murray, Suite 40, Beaverton, OR 97005. Norma Baril Norma M. Baril of Eugene died Nov. 24 of age-related causes. She was 94. She was born Oct. 15, 1910, in Larium, Mich., to Norman and Emma Anderson Emma Anderson (born 10 June 1967, Wimbledon, London) is an English musician. She is best known for being a guitarist and backing singer in the shoegazing/Britpop band, Lush. Trezise. She married Donald A. Baril in Aurora, Wis., on Aug. 11, 1938. He died June 27, 1986. Baril lived in the Michigan towns of Calumet Calumet, region, United States Calumet (kăl`y mĕt'), industrialized region of NW Ind. and NE Ill., along the south shore of Lake Michigan. , Iron

Baril attended Eastern Michigan University Eastern Michigan University, mainly at Ypsilanti, Mich.; coeducational; founded 1849 as a normal school, became Eastern Michigan College in 1956, gained university status in 1959. , and was an elementary school elementary school: see school. teacher for nine years. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Newman of Eugene; two brothers, Carl Trezise of Temple Hills, Md., and John Trezise of Grawn, Mich.; a sister, Winifred Dietzel of Burton, Mich..; and five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A son, Jame, died previously. A memorial service will be held next spring in Lansing. Inurnment will be at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church memorial garden in Lansing. Vossen also worked as a buyer for Broadway Clothing and at Chase Flowers. She had lived in Eugene since 1945. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed nature, flower gardening, travel, antiques, and making and collecting dolls, quilts and thimbles.
