Helen Howlett

A memorial service will be held later for Helen Baarsch Howlett of Eugene, who died Oct. 5 of age-related causes. She was 87.

She was born May 8, 1917, in Spring Valley, Minn., to Henry and Helena Huebner Baarsch. She married James Howard James Howard can refer to:
  • James H. Howard (1913–1995), U.S Congressional Medal of Honor recipient in World War II
  • James J. Howard (1927-1988), an educator and former United States congressman from New Jersey
  • James J.
 Howlett on Aug. 20, 1941, in Minnesota. He died in 1987.

She moved from Minneapolis to Eugene in 1966. A longtime homemaker, she enjoyed crafts, bingo and golf. She was a seamstress and made her children's clothes without using patterns. Howlett belonged to Emmaus Lutheran Church and several bridge groups. She volunteered at the gift shop at Sacred Heart Hospital This article is about the fictional hospital on Scrubs. John C. O'Connor of Eugene died Oct. 8 of pneumonia. He was 87.

He was born Aug. 29, 1917, in Marshfield to Michael and Agnes Jones O'Connor. He married Helene Allen in Portland on March 23, 1944.

He was employed as a real estate broker.

O'Connor enjoyed traveling, community service and reading. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Megan O'Connor of Eugene; a brother, P.R. of Eugene; and one grandchild.

No service is planned. Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
