Lowell Bengen

JUNCTION CITY Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  - A memorial service will be Oct. 13 for Lowell "Bing" Bengen of Junction City who died Oct. 6 of natural causes . He was 68.

Bengen was born July 18, 1936, in Charles City, Iowa Charles City is a city in Floyd County, Iowa, United States. The population was 7,812 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Floyd CountyGR6. Charles City is a significant commercial and transportation center for the area, located on U.S. , to George and Nellie Crosby Bengen. He married Marcia Doddema on Oct. 2, 1986, in Eugene.

He graduated from Shell Rock High School in Shell Rock, Iowa Shell Rock is a city in Butler County, Iowa, United States, along the Shell Rock River. The population was 1,298 at the 2000 census. The city is located along the county's eastern border, between Butler and Bremer counties. . He later lived in Dike, Iowa Dike is a city in Grundy County, Iowa, United States. The population was 944 at the 2000 census. Dike was named for railroad construction engineer Chester Thomas Dike. Dike chose the site and laid out the town in 1900. , before moving to Junction City in 1985. He worked for the Eugene Livestock Auction for 18 years. He enjoyed spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God.
 with his family and friends, cattle and sports. He belonged to Junction City United Methodist Church United Methodist Church, in the United States, religious body formed by the union in 1968 of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and the Methodist Church (see Methodism). .

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ashley Kay Bengen of Junction City and Michelle Masters of Waterloo, Iowa Waterloo is the county seat of Black Hawk County, Iowa, United States. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 68,747. It belongs to the Cedar Falls-Waterloo Metropolitan Statistical Area, and is the larger of the two cities, by population. ; two sons, Mike of Reinbeck, Iowa Reinbeck is a city in Grundy County, Iowa, United States. The population was 1,751 at the 2000 census.

Reinbeck resides in northeastern Iowa outside of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls area known as the Cedar Valley.

Wednesday's service will be at 11 a.m. in Junction City United Methodist Church. Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home of Junction City is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Junction City Fire Department.

Kenneth Hadley

The funeral will be Oct. 11 for Kenneth L. Hadley of Turner, formerly of Eugene and Junction City, who died Oct. 5 of age-related causes. He was 80.

Hadley was born March 9, 1924, in Walterville, Maine, to Frank and Lura Almira Bishop Hadley. He married Carol J. Paeschke in Eugene on Oct. 16, 1949.

He lived in Eugene from 1942 to 1951, Junction City from 1952 to 1972 and Turner since 1972. Hadley attended school in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Hadley was in the U.S. Army, serving with the 91st Reconnaissance Squadron in North Africa, Sicily and Italy from 1942 to 1945. He later served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1952 during the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation. .

He worked for Chase Gardens, Plywood Mills. Hadley also was a farmer and a school bus driver.

Hadley was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Salem.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joan Cossey of Oregon City; three sons, Glen of Bend, Paul of Albany and John of Jacksonville, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.

Monday's service will be at 10 a.m. at Fisher Funeral Home in Albany. Burial will follow at Jefferson Cemetery in Jefferson.

Fisher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Betty Nichols

The funeral will be Oct. 16 for Betty Joan Nichols of Eugene, who died Oct. 8 of cancer. She was 73.

Nichols was born May 25, 1931, in Eugene, to John and Neva Holland Bowman. She married Calvin Nichols in 1949 in Washington. He died June 7, 1993.

She grew up on Wolf Creek and went to school in Veneta.

Her hobbies included camping, fishing, hunting, playing the piano and guitar. Nichols was a member of Elmira Church of Christ.

Survivors include two sons, Harold of Elmira and Leon of Veneta; two daughters, Bonnie Mahaffey of Eugene and Laureen Hafley of Veneta; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Chapel of Memories. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chapel of Memories. Burial will follow at Lane Memorial Gardens.

John Stone

SPRINGFIELD - John E. Stone of Springfield died Oct. 5 of age-related causes. He was 82.

Stone was born Feb. 26, 1922, in Omaha, Neb., to Horton and Ellen Huntington Stone. He married Bernice Brady in Ketchikan, Alaska, on June 21, 1969.

He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II and was stationed at Ketchikan, where he met his first wife, Bonita Bonita (Spanish and Portuguese for "beautiful") is the name of:
  • Bonita Magazine, an international men's magazine
  • Bonita, California
  • Bonita, Louisiana
 MacGlashan. She later died.

Stone moved to Southern California in the late 1940s, where he opened a restaurant. He later worked as a painting contractor and a grocery store owner in Illinois, before moving to Las Vegas and working as a security guard.

Stone moved to Eugene in 1984, where he worked as a bank courier.

He enjoyed flying, scuba diving, traveling, camping and fishing.

Stone was a member of Unity of the Valley Church.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Valerie Sexton of Newport Beach, Calif., and Sandra Miller of Windsor, Calif.; two stepsons, Scott Brady of Gillespie, Ill., and Rex Brady of Eugene; a sister, Lois Egan of Menifee, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great- grand- children.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Lane Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
