OBITUARIES.Byline: The Register-Guard Carl Jones Jr. A memorial service will be held Feb. 25 for Carl E. Jones Jr. of Eugene, who died Feb. 19 of age-related causes. He was 76. He was born Jan. 16, 1928, in Ladysmith, Wis., to Carl and Margret Offner Jones. He served in the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation. and with the U.S. Coast Guard Re- serves. Jones married Doris Burch in Eugene on July 4, 1949. He was a Eugene firefighter for 32 years, retiring in 1983 with the rank of captain. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed nature and animals, and was also a cabinetmaker. Jones was a member of the Eugene Eagles and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary of Athens, Ala.; two daughters, Judy Byrd and Joanne Herrera, both of Eugene; a brother, Ted of Eugene; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Wednesday's service will be at 11 a.m. at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Ermagene Warfel The funeral will be Feb. 24 for Ermagene Warfel of Eugene, who died Feb. 20 of cancer. She was 70. She was born March 4, 1933, in Muse, Okla., to Walter and Beaula Henager. She moved to Oregon at age 2 and lived in Westfir and Oakridge until moving to Eugene at age 9. She attended Eugene High School. She married Mack Warfel on Nov. 4, 1967. She worked for 30 years at Agripac and for eight years as a home health caregiver. Her interests included playing bingo, crocheting and needlepoint needlepoint: see lace. needlepoint Type of embroidery in which the stitches are counted and worked with a needle over the threads, or mesh, of a canvas foundation. It was known as canvas work until the early 19th century. , camping, reading "true story" magazines and watching TV. Mary Dolan Mary Junker Dolan of Eugene died Feb. 14 at age 86. The family chose not to list the cause of death. She was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Lawrenceburg, Ind., to Alfred and Clara Goble Junker. She married Francis Dolan in Tijuana, Mexico, in November 1953. He died shortly thereafter. Dolan lived in Anchorage, Alaska, Glendale, Calif., and Detroit, Mich., before moving to Eugene in 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Barbara DeFazio of Eugene, Linda Steffey of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Terry Peace of Yuma, Ariz.; and 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great grand- children. David Hiatt A memorial service will be held Feb. 25 for David Christian Hiatt of Eugene, who died Feb. 19 at age 30. The family chose not to list the cause of death. Hiatt was born Sept. 30, 1973, in Portland to Robert and Winifred Kihs Hiatt. He married Joann Palmer in Springfield on March 22, 1997. Cliff-Wayne Yetter Cliff-Wayne Yetter of Eugene died Feb. 19 of pneumonia. He was 61. He was born Oct. 30, 1942, in Little Rock, Ark., to Orville and Adamae Casey Yetter. He lived in Portland, Pasco, Wash., and Great Falls, Mont., before moving to Eugene in 1967. He married Jane Ceal Allen in Eugene in 1990. Yetter was employed as an announcer, copywriter and production director at KPNW radio. He also served as an announcer for KUGN radio in the 1970s and 1990s. He founded Ad Creations, an advertising and production company, in 1972. He founded Ad Consultants in Portland in 1976 and Yetter Advertising in Eugene in 1986. He remained active in advertising until 1993, specializing in automotive dealerships. He was best known in the '80s and '90s for his work in television commercials for Hutchins Nissan. Yetter retired in 1993 due to multiple sclerosis, for which he was diagnosed with in 1970.
