Helen Allen Al·len , Edgar 1892-1943.

American anatomist who is noted for his studies of hormones and for the discovery (1923) of estrogen.
 

JUNCTION CITY Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  - The memorial service will be July 2 for Helen M. Allen of Junction City, who died June 26 of age-related causes. She was 87.

She was born Nov. 15, 1915, in Junction City to Nels and Mary Nelson. She was born and raised in the same house where she lived until her death.

She married Floyd Dorsey Allen in Vancouver, Wash., on Oct. 6, 1934. He died Oct. 18, 1980.

She was a homemaker and farmer. She played the organ and piano at Franklin Christian Church, where she also worked as a secretary and officer. She was an active member of the church.

Allen enjoyed taking care of her sheep, planting flowers, gardening and driving her 1957 Chevrolet.

Wednesday's service will be at 2 p.m. at Franklin Christian Church. Private burial burial, disposal of a corpse in a grave or tomb. The first evidence of deliberate burial was found in European caves of the Paleolithic period. Prehistoric discoveries include both individual and communal burials, the latter indicating that pits or ossuaries were  will be at Franklin Cemetery cemetery, name used by early Christians to designate a place for burying the dead. First applied in Christian burials in the Roman catacombs, the word cemetery came into general usage in the 15th cent. . Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home of Junction City is in charge of arrangements.

Virginia Lightner

. She was 69.

She was born Jan. 20, 1934, in Chico, Calif., to Hobart and Doris Higgenbothan Rea. She married Edward J. Lightner in Carson City Carson City, city (1990 pop. 40,443), state capital, W Nev., in the Eagle valley; inc. 1875. The city is a trade center for a mining and agricultural area. State government is the major employer, and tourism is economically important. , Nev., on May 7, 1949.

She graduated from Shasta Union High School in Redding Redding, city (1990 pop. 66,462), seat of Shasta co., N central Calif., on the Sacramento River; inc. 1872. A principal tourist center for a mountain and lake region, it also has lumbering, food-processing, and diverse manufacturing. , Calif. She lived in Mount Shasta and Redding from 1949 until 1965, when she moved to Junction City. She moved to Monroe in 1975.

Lightner was a homemaker who worked at Detering Orchards, Grandview Manor and Moulding Inc. Her interests included crafts, reading and crocheting.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Marlyn Stephens of Monroe and Patricia Steng of Kiowa, Colo.; three sons, Robert of Boise, Ronald of Bend and William of Monroe; and 15 grandchildren GRANDCHILDREN, domestic relations. The children of one's children. Sometimes these may claim bequests given in a will to children, though in general they can make no such claim. 6 Co. 16. . Two grandchildren, Jessie Lightner and Donald Krusow, died previously.

Wednesday's service will be at 10 a.m. at Bellfountain Community Church. Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home of Junction City is in charge of arrangements.
