OBITUARIES.Byline: The Register-Guard Kathleen Miller Dr Kathleen Miller is a climate scientist who specializes in the economics of climate change and its effects on institutions, management of risk and investment decisions. She has worked as the lead author on the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change chapter on A memorial service will be held May 19 for Kathleen O. Miller of Eugene, who died April 22 of age-related causes. She was 97. Miller was born Nov. 19, 1905, in Fredericktown, Mo., to Jacob and Julia Burke Millsap. She married Clarence Ward in 1920. They divorced in 1970. She married Jack Miller in 1973. He died in 1985. She worked as a hotel concierge, beauty operator, sales representative, buyer, school secretary and the travel editor of the Klamath Herald & News. Her interests included world travel, reading, knitting, crocheting, writing and preparing travel presentations. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, - A memorial service will be held May 13 for Elna Margaret Reerslev of Junction City, who died May 9 of age-related causes. She was 85. Reerslev was born Jan. 8, 1918, in Omaha, Neb., to Jens and Andrea Kjeldsen Petersen. She graduated from high school in Omaha. She married Jens Reerslev in Omaha on March 4, 1951. She lived in Junction City for over 50 years. Her interests included reading, gardening, canning, church activities, biking and spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart. She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in Junction City. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jean Larkin of Monroe; three sons, John, Kenny and David, all of Junction City and 10 grandchildren. A son, Steven Reerslev, died previously. Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City is in charge of arrangements Tuesday's service will be held at 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church. Paula Evans-Bates CRESWELL - Paula Mae Evans-Bates of Creswell died May 8 of age-related causes. She was 86. Evans-Bates was born May 30, 1916, in Omar, W.Va., to Jesse and Estelle Dean Robinson. She married Leonard Evans Leonard Salusbury Evans (born August 19, 1929) is a retired politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was a member of the Manitoba legislature from 1969 to 1999, and was a Cabinet Minister in the governments of New Democratic Premiers Edward Schreyer and Howard Pawley. in 1929 . He died July 18, 1973. She married Arthur Bates Bates , Katherine Lee 1859-1929. American educator and writer best known for her poem "America the Beautiful," written in 1893 and revised in 1904 and 1911. in Creswell on July 4, 1987. She grew up in West Virginia and Kentucky, and she lived for a brief time in California before settling in Creswell. She was a homemaker, and she worked as a nurse, cook and housekeeper. Her interests included cooking, canning and dancing. She enjoyed giving her jams and her "super sauce" to everyone she met. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grand- children. She will be remembered as a small but spirited lady. Survivors include her husband; six sons, Vernus Evans of Cottage Grove, Roger, Harold and Raymond Evans, all of Creswell, Gene Evans of Tigard and Darrell Evans of Alaska; a daughter, Sarah Soule of California; 31 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. A son, Billy Evans, died in 1984 and a daughter, Mary Sutt, died in 2002. No service is planned. Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
