Eighteen-year Livermore Area Recreation and Park District member Larry Faltings died of cancer on April 10, 2001 at the age of 55. At the time of his last election to the Board in 1998, he listed the development of a skateboard park, the development of a community center, and continued stewardship with increased access to natural areas as his top priorities. Faltings was known for his fiscal concerns throughout his years on the Board and he fought to end the state's take of half of the community's park and recreation property taxes. Faultings also consistently strove to reevaluate programs that would meet the community's needs and interests. He was a graduate of Livermore High School Livermore High School is a public high school located in the town of Livermore, California, USA, and is part of the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD). , and earned a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States).  at Davis and a Master's degree in Economics from San Jose State University. South San Francisco has several industrial parks; its manufactures include medical supplies and equipment, foods, paint, paper products, consumer goods, and clothing. . He had been a member of the Tri-Valley Community Fund Allocations Committee, Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District (LVJUSD) is a public school district located in Livermore, California. It is located in Alameda County. As of the 2006-2007 school year, the Superintendent is Brenda Miller.  Superintendent's Budget Advisory Committee, had been a soccer and Little League coach and was active with Sprint Car Racing Sprint cars are high-powered race cars designed primarily for the purpose of running on short dirt or paved tracks. Sprint car racing is popular in the United States, Australia, and New Zealand. . He is survived by his wife, Maryalice, also an LARPD board member, two sons, a stepson, two stepdaughters, and four grandchildren.
