A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. July 19 at Finley-Sunset Hills Mortuary in Portland for Thomas E. "Tom" Ward of Beaverton, formerly of the Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, area. He died June 15 at age 55. The family chose not to list the cause of death. He was born Aug. 28, 1951, in Medford to James and G. "Joan" Rasmussen Ward Sr. Ward graduated from Junction City High School and Oregon State University Oregon State University, at Corvallis; land-grant and state supported; coeducational; chartered 1858 as Corvallis College, opened 1865. In 1868 it was designated Oregon's land-grant agricultural college and was taken over completely by the state in 1885. . He worked for Blue Cross from 1987 to 1999 and most recently worked for Nike. Survivors include his parents, of Eugene; a brother, James of Sparks, Nev.; and a sister, Jackie Neufeld of Portland. Thomas Emerson Sr. A celebration of life will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, June 30, at the Eagles Lodge in Eugene for Thomas E. Emerson Sr. of Eugene. He died June 21 of cancer at age 75. He was born Aug. 23, 1931, in Kansas City, Mo., to Thomas and Ruth Brown Emerson. He married Maria Cellucci on Aug. 17, 1962, in Reno, Nev. Emerson graduated from Eugene High School and served in the Navy during the Korean War Korean War, conflict between Communist and non-Communist forces in Korea from June 25, 1950, to July 27, 1953. At the end of World War II, Korea was divided at the 38th parallel into Soviet (North Korean) and U.S. (South Korean) zones of occupation. . He worked as a carpenter and owned a contracting business, retiring in 1993. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Cousins of Everett, Wash., and Thomas Emerson Jr. of Pasadena, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Arrangements by Alpha Cremation cremation, disposal of a corpse by fire. It is an ancient and widespread practice, second only to burial. George Klipfel SPRINGFIELD - George Klipfel of Springfield died May 28 of colon cancer colon cancer, cancer of any part of the colon (often called the large intestine). Colon cancer is the second most common cancer diagnosed in the United States. at age 53. No service is planned. He was born June 5, 1953, in Eugene to Milton and Laura Higgins Klipfel. Klipfel worked in park services and as a custodian. He is survived by his sister, Christine Lundberg of Spring- field. Arrangements by Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Springfield.
