Harold Thorin

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held Nov. 28 for Harold Clifton Thorin of Springfield, who died Nov. 22 of age-related causes. He was 88.

Thorin was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Clearwater, Neb., to Charles and Clara Thorin. He married Mary Moore on Oct. 8, 1983.

He attended Wayne State College For University in Michigan, see .

Wayne State College is a four-year public college in the Nebraska State College System in Wayne, Nebraska. The current enrollment is 3,356.
 in Wayne, Neb., for two years. He was trained as an aviation metalsmith in Omaha, Neb., and served in the Navy in Okinawa as an aviation metalsmith. After the war, he lived in Portland and worked as an apprentice typewriter repairman re·pair·man

Thorin went to work for Goodwill Industries in Portland in 1954. He moved to the Eugene-Springfield area in 1961 and established the first Goodwill store in Eugene as a branch of Goodwill Industries in Portland.

Goodwill Industries of Eugene was established in 1969 and Thorin served as its executive director. He retired in 1981. Survivors include his wife; a son, Richard of Eugene; a daughter, Maryellen Schnee of Bend; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His first wife, Opal, died in 1980.

Monday's service will be held at 1 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Eugene. Inurnment will be private. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Walker was born Oct. 17, 1938, in San Benito, Texas San Benito is a city in Cameron County, Texas, U.S., The population was 23,444 at the 2000 census. It is the birthplace of Country and Tex-Mex music icon Freddy Fender. San Benito celebrated the 100th anniversary of the naming of the city April 3, 2007. , to Kenneth and Mable Heckathorn Walker. New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
 in 1962. He died in 1990.

She graduated from high school in North Bend. Before moving to Junction City, she lived in Eugene, Springfield, Florence and Harrisburg. She had worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Bell in Eugene. Walker was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting. She also enjoyed animals, especially raccoons and her dog, Milo Milo, athlete of ancient Greece

. She attended Christ Center in Junction City.

Survivors include three daughters, Angela Floyd of Junction City, Sara Wiard of Monroe and Cheryl Groves of Benicia, Calif.; a son, Curtis Whiting of Eugene; two brothers, Elton Walker of Triangle Lake and James Walker of Creswell; and 11 grandchildren.

Friday's service will be held at 3 p.m. at Springfield Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home.

Donna Davis

A memorial service will be held Nov. 26 for Donna Rae Davis of Springfield, formerly of Eugene, who died Oct. 29 of cardiac arrest cardiac arrest

Davis was born Jan. 23, 1955, in Seattle, to Jewell and Helen Washington Davis.

She moved to Eugene in 1968 and recently moved to Springfield. She worked in food service at the University of Oregon for 20 years, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and collecting bears.

Survivors include two sons, Jerome Reynolds of Salem and Homer Clayton III of Texas; her grandmother, Vernell Davis of Seattle; her foster mother, Mattie Reynolds of Eugene; four brothers, Danny Davis and Terry Davis, both of Seattle, and Erin Davis and Durrell Davis, both of California; and three sisters, Helen Davis of Seattle, Gwen Davis of Sacramento and Gena (Generalized Event Notification Architecture) A method for communicating events over the Web. It is an architecture for transmitting notifications between HTTP resources such as buddy lists, distribution lists and print jobs.  Davis of California.

Saturday's service will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Mark Catholic Church in Eugene.

Doyle Rich

The funeral service will be held Nov. 26 for Doyle H. Rich, of Orem, Utah, formerly of Springfield, who died Nov. 17 of age-related causes after a brief illness. He was 82.

Rich was born March 25, 1923, in Afton, Wyo., to Lavell and Mary Mecham Rich. He married Lillian Loveland in Idaho Falls, Idaho Idaho Falls is the county seat and largest city of Bonneville County, Idaho, United States.GR6 As of the 2000 Census the population of Idaho Falls was 50,730, with a metro population of 116,980. (2006 estimate: 52,786)[1]. , on Feb. 27, 1947. She died Dec. 23, 2003.

He was a high school graduate and served in the Navy during World War II. Before moving to Orem, he lived in the Springfield area for 34 years, in Roseburg from 1952 to 1971, and Nampa, Idaho, from 1947 to 1952. He worked as a farmer, truck driver and warehouse- man.

He enjoyed camping, carpentry, fishing and attending church services. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Church of Jesus Christ may refer to:

Survivors include five daughters, Ronda Rust of Springfield, Mignon Lim of Walla Walla, Wash., Sharon Holley of Springville, Utah, Marsha Oler of Salt Lake City and JoAnn Christopherson of Meridian, Idaho; a son, Mark of American Fork, Utah American Fork is a city in Utah County, Utah, USA, at the foot of Mount Timpanogos in the Wasatch Range, north of Utah Lake. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 21,941 and was estimated at 22,387 in 2004. It has been rapidly growing since the 1970s. ; three brothers, Lavell Rich of Kimberly, Idaho, Byron Wilson of Provo, Utah, and Dean Wilson of Portland; a sister, Verla Murphy of Mesa, Ariz.; 35 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Latter-day Saints, 1533 Market St., Springfield, with the funeral at 11 a.m. at the same location.

Burial will be in Springfield Memorial Gardens.

Raymond Henderson

Raymond Henderson of Milwaukie, formerly of Eugene, died Nov. 8. A private memorial service is planned.

Henderson was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Fairview, Mont., to Arthur and Jessie Thomas Henderson. He married Helen Cundiff on Oct. 11, 1942, in Montana. They divorced in 1963.

He was educated at Thomas Country Grade School and Sidney High School Sidney High School can refer to:

. He worked as a farmer and laborer in Montana. He lived in Eugene with his daughter for 16 years and moved with the family to Milwaukie in 1987. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Diana Hafeman of Milwaukie; two sons, Ray of Hillsboro and Jim of Portland; a brother, Jim of Helena, Mont.; a sister, Irene Berndt of Fairview, Mont.; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Two daughters, one son and one grandson died previously.

Crown Memorial Center in Milwaukie is in charge of arrangements.

George Wernhardt

George Rudy Wernhardt of Lowell died Nov. 11 of age-related causes. He was 77.

Wernhardt was born March 12, 1928, in Beise Furth, Germany, to Valentine and Gertrude Rudolph Wernhardt. He married Anne Heiden in Reno, Nev., on Feb. 2, 1990.

He served in the German Air Force. He lived in San Francisco from 1963 to 1990 and had worked as a United Airlines mechanic. He enjoyed model airplanes, gardening and spending time with his pets.

Wernhardt was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers is an AFL-CIO/CLC trade union representing approx. 646,933 workers as of 2006 in more than 200 industries.  and the National Rifle Association National Rifle Association (NRA)

Ruben Smith

SPRINGFIELD - Ruben Louis "Smitty" Smith of Springfield died Oct. 27 of age-related causes. He was 83.

Smith was born May 9, 1922, in Polk County, Missouri Polk County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population was 26,992. Its county seat is Bolivar6. History
Polk County was organized and separated from Greene County on January 5, 1835.
, to Clifford and Martha Lacy Smith. He married Dorothy Loder in 1944 in Queens, N.Y. They later divorced. He married Edmona Smith and they were later divorced.

Smith served in the Navy and had worked as a supervisor in the sheet vinyl industry. He lived in New York and Mississippi before moving to Springfield in 1982. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, music and the guitar. He belonged to Sea Cadets, the United Pentecostal Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include a son, Daniel of Long Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Maureen Shima of Dingmans Ferry, Pa.; his former wife Dorothy Smith of Newton, N.J.; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchil- dren. A grandson, David Shima, died in 1996.

No service is planned.

Jacqueline Johnson

SPRINGFIELD - Jacqueline F. "Jackie" "Fran" Johnson, 63, of Springfield, died Nov. 21 of lung cancer lung cancer, cancer that originates in the tissues of the lungs. Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States in both men and women. Like other cancers, lung cancer occurs after repeated insults to the genetic material of the cell. . She was 63. A private service will be held later.

Johnson was born July 7, 1942, in Newport, to William and Anna Oswald Skoog. She married David Johnson Sr. on June 20, 1963, in Woodland, Wash.

She grew up in Toledo and moved to Sweet Home when she was in high school. After marrying, Johnson lived in Seaside and Forks Wash., and had lived in Springfield for the last 13 years.

Johnson was primarily a homemaker but also had worked as a cook. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, wood crafts, yard work, sewing and decorating her home with crafted items.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Mark of Seattle and David Jr. of Darrington, Wash.; two daughters, Debbie Johnson of Springfield and Jill Whipple of Orland, Calif.; a brother, William Skoog of Springfield; a sister, Chris Rhinehart of Prineville; and seven grandchildren. An infant daughter, Nancy Johnson, died previously.

Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Jack Day

CRESWELL - Jack Augustine Day of Creswell died Nov. 22 of age-related causes. He was 89.

Day was born March 19, 1916, in Granger, Wash., to Edgar and Gertrude Pardee Day. He married Ethel Channer on Nov. 18, 1940, in Roseburg.

He moved in 1923 to Eugene, where he grew up and attended school. He had lived most of his life in Drain, Creswell, Walker and Cottage Grove.

Day served in the Army in World War II in the European Theater. He had been employed as a head rig sawyer. He worked at Booth-Kelly Lumber in Springfield until it closed, then worked at Bohemia and Saginaw until he retired in the late 1980s.

He enjoyed flying model airplanes, whittling Whittling is the art of carving shapes out of raw wood with a knife.

Whittling is typically performed with a light, small-bladed knife, usually a pocket knife. Specialised whittling knives are available as well.
, roller-skating and spending time with his family. His family said he was "never too busy for his kids."

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry and Dwayne, both of Eugene; a daughter, Nancy Gammon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; five grandchildren and seven great-grand- children.

No service is planned. Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove is in charge of arrangements.
