Wanda Burnett

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be today, April 29, for Wanda May Burnett of Springfield, who died April 26 of heart failure. She was 77.

She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Boughtenville, Ohio, to Clement and Myrlle Meyer Light. She lived in Ohio, Coos Bay Coos Bay (ks), city (1990 pop. 15,076), Coos co., SW Oreg., a port of entry on Coos Bay; founded 1854 as Marshfield, inc. 1874, renamed 1944.  and Brookings prior to moving to Springfield.

She married Wallace Caswell on Aug. 2, 1953, in Coos Bay. He died in 1978. She married James Vaughan in May 1980 in Springfield. He died in 1986. She married Nathaniel "Buster" Burnett on Aug. 12, 1988. He died in 2002.

She was a homemaker and mother. Burnett enjoyed fishing, embroidery, bingo and family activities. She was active in TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).

Survivors include three sons, James Caswell and Emerson Caswell, both of Springfield, and Carl Caswell of Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, ; two daughters, Virginia Wood of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Shirley Meyers of Springfield; two brothers, Roland Light of Spokane and Clifford Light of Mansfield, Ohio Mansfield is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Richland CountyGR6. The municipality is located in north-central Ohio in the western foothills of the Alleghenies, approximately 80 miles (129 km) southwest of Cleveland and 66 miles ; two sisters, Carry Mulvanes and Helen Wilson, both of Ohio; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Bev Anderson, died previously.

Today's funeral will be at 10 a.m. at Springfield Memorial Funeral Home.

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held May 14 for Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Harris III of Springfield, who died April 25 of cancer. He was 68.

Harris was born Jan. 25, 1937, in Roswell, N.M., to Benjamin Harris II and Esther Deland Harris. He married his wife, Jackie Harris, on Sept. 21, 1957, in Eugene.

He graduated from high school in Pleasant Hill. He had worked as a millwright mill·wright

San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  and Wilma Hicks of Porterville, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The May 14 service will be held at noon in Springfield Faith Center. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery in Eugene. West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Harold Darling

JUNCTION CITY - A memorial service will be held May 1 for Harold Glen Darling of Junction City, who died April 20 of complications from Parkinson's disease Parkinson's disease or Parkinsonism, degenerative brain disorder first described by the English surgeon James Parkinson in 1817. When there is no known cause, the disease usually appears after age 40 and is referred to as Parkinson's disease. . He was 86.

He was born Aug. 1, 1918, in Carlyle, Mont., to Albert and May Spaulding Darling. He married Geraldine Moore on Oct. 6, 1951, in Junction City.

He attended grade school and high school in Harrisburg and graduated from Cascade College Cascade College is a private, four-year, liberal arts college located in Portland, Oregon affiliated with the Church of Christ. The college is a branch campus of Oklahoma Christian University and emphasizes spiritual growth and career preparation.  of Theology.

Sunday's service will be at 3 p.m. at Junction City First Baptist Church. Murphy-Musgrove Funeral Home in Junction City is in charge of arrangements.

 will be held today, April 29, for Donna Sanders of Eugene, who died April 25 of heart failure. She was 57.

Sanders was born Sept. 16, 1947, in Santa Monica Santa Monica (săn`tə mŏn`ĭkə), city (1990 pop. 86,905), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1886. Tourism and retailing are important, and the city has motion-picture, biotechnology, and software industries. , Calif., to Roy and Evelyn Herem Eells. Louise Jones

PLEASANT HILL - A memorial service will be held May 1 for Louise Carol Jones of Pleasant Hill, who died April 20 of Parkinson's Disease. She was 73.

Jones was born Oct. 11, 1931, in Oconto, Wis., to Clarence and Jennie Manser Scherer. She married Harold "Casey" Jones in 1950 in Gillett, Wis. He died Oct. 5, 1981. She married Delbert Jones on Aug. 24, 1986, in Eugene.

She graduated from West High School in Green Bay, Wis. She received a teaching certificate from Algoma College in Algoma, Wis., and worked as a teacher in Oconto Falls, Wis. She next lived in Gillett, Wis., then moved to Coburg in the 1950s.

Jones received bachelor's and master's degrees in education from the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. , and had been a teacher in Coburg, Pleasant Hill, Alsea and the Bethel School District Bethel School District may refer to:

Sunday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at Lost Creek Grace Fellowship. Burial was in Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Major Family Funeral Home in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Steward

. She was 59.

She was born June 5, 1945, in Detroit, to James and June Krook Peronto. She grew up and attended school in Tacoma and graduated from Wilson High School There are numerous Wilson High Schools in the United States, most named after the United States President Woodrow Wilson, including:

 in 1963. She married Harold Steward on Sept. 15, 1974, in Honolulu.

She attended two years of junior college in Bremerton, Wash. She worked as a supervisor of tellers in a bank in Hawaii. She enjoyed crafts, painting, reading and collecting handmade pottery from Goodwill. She enjoyed staying up late and sleeping late. She also enjoyed attending church and had helped start a church in Hawaii.

Survivors include her husband and two daughters, Stephanie Steward and Juli Steward, both of Eugene.

No service is planned. Chapel of Memories Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

"Mike" Farina

Farina was born Jan. 17, 1932, in Los Angeles, to Michele and Marguerite Baumer Farina. He married Penny Hatfield on Oct. 25, 1974, in Santa Clara, Calif.

He lived in San Diego until 1940, then moved to San Jose, Calif. He lived in the Reno-Sparks area in Nevada from 1976 to 1979, then moved to Metamora, Ill. He had lived in Eugene since 1982.

He attended Santa Clara University, Syracuse University and San Jose State University. He served in the Air Force intelligence division, Russian language, and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He had owned and operated West Valley Office and Farina's Dough Factory pizzeria. He also worked in sales and shipping for National Whiskey Barrel and in sales at Valley Office Supply and Nielson Tool Co.

He belonged to the Mid-Oregon Executive Association and had served as its president in 1988. He also belonged to the Knights of Columbus Knights of Columbus, American Roman Catholic society for men, founded (1882) at New Haven, Conn. (where its headquarters are still located), by Father Michael J. McGivney.  and the Eugene Chamber of Commerce "Green Jackets" greeters. He coached Little League and Kidsports softball and basketball. He enjoyed University of Oregon sports and working at the Ducks football and basketball games, and also liked reading, auto-cross, crossword puzzles and spending time with his pets.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael Farina and Chris Farina, both of San Jose, Calif.; a daughter, Susan Gadbery, also of San Jose; a stepdaughter step·daugh·ter

John Hermens Sr.

John H. Hermens Sr. of Seattle, formerly of Eugene, died April 23 of emphysema emphysema (ĕmfĭsē`mə), pathological or physiological enlargement or overdistention of the air sacs of the lungs. A major cause of pulmonary insufficiency in chronic cigarette smokers, emphysema is a progressive disease that commonly . He was 90.

Hermens was born Aug. 13, 1914, in Forest Grove, to John and Caroline Moreno Hermens.

He served in the Navy from 1933 to 1959, retiring at the rank of lieutenant commander. He made war patrols in the SS-203 Tuna submarine during World War II. He lived in Eugene from 1959 to 1970 and worked as a sound technician for Smeed Sound Service. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eugene. He enjoyed playing chess. He had lived in Seattle for the past 35 years.

Survivors include three sons, John E. Hermens of Arlington, Texas, John H. Hermens Jr., of Amherst, N.H., and David Hermens of Sterling, Va.; a daughter, Shawn LeSalla-Kimmel of Seattle; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. His wife, Eddie "Betty" Hermens, died April 11, 1983.

No service is planned. Evergreen-Washelli Cemeteries and Funeral Home in Seattle is in charge of arrangements.

Michele Robinson

SPRINGFIELD - Michele Erin "Miki" Robinson of Springfield died April 25 of complications of cancer treatment. She was 58.

Robinson was born March 29, 1947, in Eugene, to Philip and Margery Penson Dimick. She married Randy Ammon on Dec. 20, 1963, in Salem. They later divorced. She married Albert "Buzz" Robinson Jr. on Oct. 5, 1984, in Eugene. He died Aug. 16, 2004.

She grew up and was educated in Jefferson. She later lived in Dever-Connor, Albany, Springfield, Lebanon and Tigard, moving back to Springfield in 1999.

She was primarily a homemaker and also had worked as a supervisor in a retail store. Her family said she made beautiful beadwork beadwork

Dorothy Thompson

Dorothy Thompson of Eugene died April 23 of age-related causes. She was 86.

She was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Oberlin, Ohio, to Dorothy Kelley.

She attended business school and worked as a bookkeeper. Her family remembers "she made beautiful quilts, grew roses and baked the best pies in the world."

Survivors include two sons, Russell Smith of Eugene and Richard Lutz of Irrigon; three daughters, Kathleen Leroux of San Jose, Calif., Diane Knotter of Cave Junction and Elaine McCartney, of Lorain, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

No service is planned. American Burial & Cremation Alternatives in Springfield is in charge of arrangements.

Michael Cordell

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be held April 30 for Michael Keith Cordell of Springfield, who died April 26 of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) or crib death, sudden, unexpected, and unexplained death of an apparently healthy infant under one year of age (usually between two weeks and eight months old). . He was 5 months old.

Michael was born Nov. 23, 2004, in Eugene, to Brandon and Trista Bahler Cordell.

His parents will remember him as a very happy baby, who loved to play peek-a-boo and to have people sing or read to him.

Paul Newberg

Paul W. Newberg of Eugene died April 20 of age-related causes. He was 89. A private service is planned.

Newberg was born Aug. 23, 1915, in Fairpoint, S.D., to John and Blanche Richards Newberg. He married Rena "LaNelle" Adams on Dec. 13, 1949, in Broadus, Mont. She died July 19, 1991.

He graduated from high school. He served in the Army Air Force from 1942 to 1945, flying 35 missions in World War II and participating in the D-Day Normandy invasion.

He lived in Edgemont, S.D., from 1963 to 1970, then lived in Aurora, Colo., until 2005. He had lived in Eugene since February. He was a semiprofessional sem·i·pro·fes·sion·al
