Phyllis Clark

Phyllis Elizabeth Clark Elizabeth Thoms Clark (nee Carswell) was born 22 June 1918 near Newcastle. She wanted to be a writer and her first play for an adult audience was a school play, Cinderella in French. Based in Glasgow, she wrote poetry.  of Warrenton, formerly of Eugene, died April 19 of age-related causes. She was 88.

She was born Dec. 19, 1916, in Wilton Center, Ill., to John and Edna Cameron Madgen. She married James Clark James Clark - Dr. James H. Clark  on Aug. 18, 1940, in Camas, Wash. He died in December 1999.

She enjoyed bowling, crocheting and working crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her son, James, of Warrenton; a brother, Fred Madgen of Salem; five sisters, Hilda Smith and Viola Elliott, both of Eugene, Ruth Piper and Dorothy Stough, both of Springfield, and Margaret Knight Margaret Knight is the name of:
  • Margaret E. Knight (1838-1914), American inventor
  • Margaret Knight (psychologist) (1903-1983), British psychologist and humanist
 of Salem; four grandchildren; and five great-grand- children.

A daughter, Karlene McGinnis, died in 2002.

No service is planned. Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Edith Grabe

Edith R. Grabe of Blair, Neb., and formerly of Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, , died March 10 of age-related causes. She was 91. Grabe was born Nov. 20, 1913, in Dannebrog, Neb., to Ramus ramus /ra·mus/ (ra´mus) pl. ra´mi   [L.] a branch, as of a nerve, vein, or artery.

 and Karen Nielsen Palle. She married Chris Grabe on Dec. 24, 1936, in Nysted, Neb. He died Feb. 12, 1968. She married Otto Grabe on July 15, 1972, in Junction City. He died Dec. 16, 1981.

She was educated in Dannebrog schools. She worked in sales at the Kaiser Department Store in Junction City for 35 years, retiring in 1972. She then lived in Esbjerg, Denmark, for 15 years before moving to Blair in 1987. She belonged to Nysted Lutheran Church and the Blair Danish Brotherhood 206.

She is survived by a brother, Morris Palle of Blair, Neb.

The service and inurnment were in Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair, Neb., was in charge of arrangements.

Richard Touranjoe

Richard H. Touranjoe of Eugene died April 9 of cardiorespiratory car·di·o·res·pi·ra·to·ry

Touranjoe was born April 13, 1931, in Watertown, N.Y., to Henry and Marion Anderson Touranjoe.

He graduated from high school and served in the Air Force for 10 years as a crew chief. He had lived in Eugene since 1969 and previously lived in the Coquille co·quille

 area and Port Townsend, Wash. He retired from Georgia-Pacific Corp. after 27 years as a dryer tender.

He enjoyed model trains and World War II memorabilia. His family said he was a jokester, and he loved his dog, Heidi. He belonged to a Baptist church.

Survivors include his mother, Marion Gregory of Port Townsend, Wash., and a sister, Betty Hale of Jonesboro, Ga.

No service is planned. Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery Willamette National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery in Clackamas County, Oregon, about 10 miles southeast of the city of Portland, Oregon. It encompasses 269.4 acres, and as of the end of 2005, had 126,561 interments.  in Portland. England's Eugene Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Naomi Fuller

SPRINGFIELD - Naomi Beverly Fuller of Springfield died April 18 of age-related causes. She was 81.

Fuller was born March 10, 1924, in Springfield, to Fred and Violet Agee Britton. She married Glen Fuller in 1950. He died Feb. 10, 1980.

She lived in Grants Pass from 1962 to 1992, then moved to Springfield. Fuller was a high school graduate and a full-time homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, spending time "Spending Time" is the first single released by Christian artist Stellar Kart.

The lyrics describe the band members desire to spend "more time with God". "Sometimes it’s a real struggle to spend time with God.
 with her family and trips to California.

Survivors include three sons, Gregg Fuller and Mark Fuller, both of Eugene, and Gary Green of Eureka, Calif.; two daughters, Cheryl Riggs of Portland and Lori Geving of Wolf Creek; and 10 grandchildren. A son, Brad Fuller, died Aug. 14, 1999.

No service is planned. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Laura Hester

SPRINGFIELD - A celebration of life will be held May 15 for Laura Jean Hester of Springfield, who died April 9 of ovarian cancer ovarian cancer

She had worked as a certified veterinary technician for 25 years, the last eight years at McKenzie Animal Clinic in Springfield. She had lived in Springfield since 1987. She enjoyed caring for animals, gardening, reading and spending time in her second home in Costa Rica.

Her family said she loved animals, prepared delicious food and shared her love of nature and life with the family and friends.

Survivors include her domestic partner of seven years, Rollie Korinek; two daughters, Maria Korinek and Anna Korinek, both of Eugene; two brothers, Mitchell King and Dennis King, both of Turlock, Calif.; and a sister, Frances Brown of Edmonds, Wash.

The May 15 service will be held at 3 p.m. in Alton Baker Park Alton Baker Park is located in Eugene, Oregon, United States, near Autzen Stadium. It features duck ponds, bicycle trails, and a dog park, and directly touches the Ferry Street Bridge.  in Eugene.

Beck's Funeral Home in Edmonds, Wash., is in charge of arrangements.

Lillian Zucker

Lillian M. Zucker of Eugene died April 19 of age-related causes. She was 84.

Zucker was born Dec. 11, 1920, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Joseph and Bronislava Bartnicki Terepka. She married Theodore Zucker in 1948.

She lived in Brooklyn until 1974, then lived in Washington, N.J., until 1984. She moved to Deer Park, N.Y., in 1984 and had lived in Eugene since 1998. She was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress, home health care provider, house cleaner and factory worker.

Survivors include her son, Richard of Eugene, and a sister, Wanda Ardito of Port Richey, Fla.

No service is planned. Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

James Lynn

FLORENCE - The funeral will be held April 23 for James F. Lynn of Florence, who died April 19 following a heart attack. He was 69.

He was born July 12, 1935, in Concord, N.H., to Hugh and Mary Splain Lynn. He married Lula Searcy on May 19, 1954, in Meridian, Miss.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He worked as a printing contract- or/consultant and developed the first graphic replication of fine arts prints and paintings. He traveled all over the country with his work. At the end of his career, he developed the process for duplicate checks.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans The Disabled American Veterans, or DAV, is an organization for disabled veterans that helps them and their families through various means. It currently has over 1.2 million members.

The DAV was controversial during the 2006 election cycle.
 and the national Democratic Party.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gordon Morris of Taunton, Mass., and David Morris of Vale; five daughters, Ramona Lynn-Goldberg of Seal Rock, Donna Cederlind of San Bernardino, Calif., Rhonda Feller of Wisconsin, Jamie Sanders of Las Vegas and Pamela Evans of Port Orchard, Wash.; a brother, Hugh "Sonny" of Concord; a sister, Eileen Stio of Concord; 28 grandchildren; and 27 great- grandchildren. A son, Johnnie Morris, and a daughter, Wanda "Chris" Holden, died previously.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Lane Memorial Gardens & Funeral Home in Eugene. Saturday's service will be at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, with burial at Lane Memorial Gardens in Eugene.
