Mary Cox

YONCALLA - A memorial service will be held Aug. 12 for Mary Margaret Cox Margaret Cox (born 1963) is an Irish politician and former Senator. Electoral history
Margaret entered politics having been co-opted onto the Galway City Council in 1995, following the death of her father Tom Cox.
 of Yoncalla, who died Aug. 8 of age-related causes. She was 91.

Cox was born June 4, 1913, in Port Haney, B.C., to Alex and Cyrilla DeCuman Lecluyse. She married LeRoy Cox in Roseburg on Feb. 1, 1940. He died March 12, 2004.

She resided in this area for 75 years and she and her husband lived on their ranch in Yoncalla for 60 years. She was a longtime member of the Catholic church in Drain.

Her interests included gardening, baking and making denim quilts. She enjoyed canning and was an avid apple peeler. She also enjoyed walking her Boston Terrier Boston terrier, breed of small, lively nonsporting dog developed in the United States in the second half of the 19th cent. It stands between 14 and 17 in. (35.6–43.2 cm) high at the shoulder and weighs from 13 to 25 lb (5.9–11.3 kg). , Fritzie, every day. She especially enjoyed her family, particularly the children.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Benzel of Yoncalla and Jeannette McLeod of Colville, Wash.; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grand- child.

Thursday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove Cottage Grove, village (1990 pop. 22,935), Washington co., SE Minn., near the St. Croix River; inc. 1965. There is farming (cattle, sheep, corn, and soybeans) and manufacturing (chemicals and machinery). .

Ivan Hoyer

COTTAGE GROVE - The funeral will be held Aug. 13 for Ivan C. Hoyer of Cottage Grove, who died Aug. 8 of heart failure. He was 77.

Hoyer was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Battle Creek, Iowa Battle Creek is a city in Ida County, Iowa, United States. The population was 743 at the 2000 census. Geography

, to Verne and Ella Warnock Hoyer. He married June Hughes in Eugene on Aug. 14, 1948. She died Aug. 30, 1994.

He settled in Cottage Grove in 1941 and graduated from Cottage Grove High School Cottage Grove High School is a public high school located in Cottage Grove, Oregon. It has a newer school building, opened in 2003 to replace the old high school building that was built in 1939 and held its first classes in 1940.  in 1944. He received a business and broadcasting degree from the University of Oregon The University of Oregon is a public university located in Eugene, Oregon. The university was founded in 1876, graduating its first class two years later. The University of Oregon is one of 60 members of the Association of American Universities. .

He served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II.

He was employed as a radio announcer and advertising sales representative at KNND. He took over his family's accounting firm, Hoyer Accounting, in the early 1970s. He later sold the firm to his daughter but continued to work there. He served on the Oregon Board of Tax Service Examiners for eight years and was a past president of the Oregon Society of Tax Consultants.

His interests included stamp collecting and he was an avid reader. He enjoyed traveling and mining for gold in the Bohemia Mines.

Survivors include his life partner, Bunny Jamison of Cottage Grove; a daughter, Karen Winters of Cottage Grove; two sons, Verne of Brownsville and Gary of Aloha; a brother, Lowry of Aloha; a sister, Sharon Bush of Cottage Grove; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Laura Hoyer, died in 1961.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove. Friday's service will be held at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church General

Robert Powell

SPRINGFIELD - A memorial service will be held Aug. 13 for Robert Lawrence Robert Lawrence is the name of:

Powell was born July 18, 1936, in Fromberg, Mont., to Ervin and Florence Kilwin Powell.

He settled in this area more than 50 years ago. He attended St. Francis High School.

He enjoyed playing cribbage cribbage (krĭb`ĭj), card game played by two persons with a deck of 52 cards and a scoring (pegging) device known as a cribbage board. , bowling and fishing.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Poole-Larsen Funeral Home in Eugene. Friday's service will be at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene.

Edna Jensen

 service will be held Aug. 11 for Edna Elna Jensen of Kalispell, Mont., formerly of Junction City Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley, , who died Aug. 7 of a heart attack. She was 92.

Jensen was born Aug. 9, 1911, in Minden, Neb., to Jens and Christina Grosskurth Olsen. She married James Jensen James Jensen is a character in The Sadhu from Virgin Comics created by Gotham Chopra  in Junction City on July 16, 1950. He died in 1985.

She grew up in Hallock, Minn., and lived in Junction City from 1948 until 1985.

She owned and operated a hotel in Junction City.

She was a member of the Junction City Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, knitting and crafts.

Survivors include a daughter, Edna Neils of Kalispell; and three grandchildren.

Thursday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park in Eugene. West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to the United Way.

Helen Drummonds

ELMIRA - A memorial service will be held Aug. 14 for Helen Drummonds of Elmira, who died Aug. 10 of age-related causes. She was 87.

Drummonds was born Nov. 26, 1916, in Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  to Michele "Mike" and Helen Polton Coster Cos´ter

. She married Hugh "Lucky" Drummonds in 1940. He died Nov. 5, 2002.

She lived in Los Angeles before settling in Elmira 50 years ago.

She worked as a rural mail carrier and as a store clerk. She enjoyed music, especially the piano. She also enjoyed preparing food.

Survivors include a daughter, Jan Kleivan of Grapeview, Wash.; two sons, Henry of Portland and Mike of Elmira; a brother, Mike Coster, of Grants Pass; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Saturday's service will be held at 3 p.m. at West Lawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Eugene. Inurnment will be at West Lawn Memorial Park. Heritage Memorial in Portland is in charge of arrangements.

Gerald Carver

ROSEBURG - A memorial service will be held Aug. 21 in Minnesota for Gerald Raymond Carver Raymond Clevie Carver, Jr. (May 25, 1938 – August 2, 1988) was an American short story writer and poet. Carver is considered a major American writer of the late 20th century and also a major force in the revitalization of the short story in the 1980s.  of Roseburg, formerly of Pleasant Hill and Eugene, who died Aug. 3 of heart-related causes. He was 68.

Carver was born May 13, 1936, in Tensed, Idaho Tensed is a city in Benewah County, Idaho, United States. The population was 126 at the 2000 census. Geography

, to Helen "To Helen" is the first of two poems to carry that name written by Edgar Allan Poe. The 15-line poem was written in honor of Jane Stanard, the mother of a childhood friend. It was first published in 1831 collection Poems of Edgar A.  Hendrickx.

He received an associate's degree. He served in the Army and was stationed in Germany.

He was employed as an investor and in the construction field. He was recently working at Roseburg Trailer.

He enjoyed swimming, animals and helping others. He especially enjoyed his friends and family.

Survivors include his mother; a son, Chris of Texas; five daughters, Cindy and Holly Carver, both of Duluth, Minn., Cathy Jonas of Eugene, Charlotte Allison of Ramsey, Minn., and Connie Carver of Rosemount, Minn.; a brother, Marvin; a sister, Vicky Brown; his former wife of 26 years, Carolyn Carver; and eight grand- children.

Long & Shukle Memorial Chapel in Roseburg is in charge of arrangements.

Donald Prichard

JUNCTION CITY - A memorial service will be held Aug. 14 for Donald Edward Pritchard of Junction City, who died Aug. 9 of congestive heart failure congestive heart failure, inability of the heart to expel sufficient blood to keep pace with the metabolic demands of the body. In the healthy individual the heart can tolerate large increases of workload for a considerable length of time. . He was 77.

Pritchard was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Chicago to Clarence and Florence Whitehead Pritchard. He married Hilda Katona in Martinsville, Ind., on Oct. 27, 1984.

He lived in Lafayette, Ind., before settling in this area 14 years ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Jean Muller of Summerville, S.C.; three sisters, Helen Habern of Hornell, N.Y., Marilyn Albright of Indianapolis and Phyllis Jones of Hookstown, Pa.; and two grandchildren.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Franklin Cemetery in Cheshire. Saturday's service will be held at 1:30 p.m. at King's Grace Fellowship Church in Junction City. David Herrick

HARRISBURG - A memorial gathering will be held Aug. 14 for David Richner Herrick of Harrisburg, who died July 24 of age-related causes. He was 78.

Herrick was born Jan. 24, 1926, in Park Ridge, Ill., to Avery and Hulda Herrick.

He attended Twinsburg School in Ohio from first grade until graduation. He attended Hiram College in Ohio.

He lived in Eugene before settling in Harrisburg.

He served in the Marine Corps as a machine gunner and rifleman during World War II. He fought with the 4th Division at Iwo Jima and received many medals, including a Presidential Citation.

Survivors include two daughters, Gwen and Rachel Herrick, both of Eugene; two sons, Leif and Avery, both of Springfield; and a sister, Joyce Clark of Little Rock, Ark. His wife of 39 years, Patricia, died in 1998.

Saturday's gathering will be held at 3 p.m. at the Harrisburg Senior Center. Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Terry Piche

A memorial service will be held Aug. 13 for Terry Warren Piche of Milwaukie, formerly of Eugene, who died Aug. 9 at the age of 49. His family chose not to list the cause of death.

Piche was born Feb. 22, 1955, in Medford to Albert and Ruth Hess Piche. He married Christi Jasper in Lake Oswego on March 18, 1978.

He lived in Medford and Eugene before settling in Milwaukie.

He graduated from Medford High School in 1973 and attended the University of Oregon.

He was employed as a sales representative with Norlift of Oregon for 20 years.

He was a member of the Rolling Hills Community Church in Tualatin.

Survivors include his wife; his parents of Eugene; three sons, Michel, Timothy and Daniel, all of Milwaukie; and a brother, William of Saratoga, Calif.

Friday's service will be held at 1 p.m. at Rolling Hills Community Church in Tualatin. Private burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery Mountain View Cemetery the name used for many cemeteries including:
